Oil change today.
First the sump nut wouldn't budge, so I used a jack between the ground and the handle... hard to explain. Worked though. Then after failing to remove the filter we had a chain wrench thing on the go, and I pushed it so hard that it bit into the side of the filter and oil sprayed everywhere. Oiled up and devoid of all possible grip, we just had to go for it with a big screwdriver and mallet.

A long time later the job was done. But the aforementioned screwdriver - which we have had in the family for fifteen years, and have used to destroy houses - will never be the same again.

Also had the air con regassed this morning!

What did you do today?

It is a lot lot easier if you use the correct tools, A filter wrench makes life oh so easy well worth the few pounds if you do your own servicing!

Just be glad you had the right filter, last time I changed mine I struggled with rremoving the old filter, thought about the old screwdriver trick but managed eventually with a chain wrench. Offered up new filter to find that the genius at the FMD had supplied the wrong one, had to refit old one to get it changed. Lips Sealed

Woogh... Eddie.. after you said that I looked back at the picture and it does look like sealant! But looking at the filter again.. there's nothing there. Mysterious.

Snoopy's probably right, just oily blood sweat and tears!  Grin

Mmm £25 for an oil change... that isn't bad. I agree, yes, but. But. But!!

I've had such terrible experiences with mechanics and the Scorpio. First time: Disturbs inlet manifold area and creates several massive air leaks. Second: After getting the car back, it's never started properly since (i'm seriously bummed about this, but situations mean I can't take the car back and complain). Third: I get the car back and it's got flicks of white paint all over the bonnet!!!!!

Argh! So i'll keep my £25 squids and take a whole lot of satisfaction with it.  Cheesy

And then i'll T cut my bonnet.
