My former scorpio 2.0 16v was reg in may 95, it had almost 231250 miles on the clock when I sold it 2 months ago, it is still in traffic. The only major repair was the autobox at 221250 miles, it's very impressive.....

My "new" -95 cosworth only got 80625 miles on it

The Scorpio was launched in October 1994 so it is feasable to expect that production started in the summer of that year or even earlier. Maybe members with M registered cars can check their build dates that way you may find some really early models

It had all euqipment except from parking sensors and cd-canger and sunroof..  It was reg in may so that means it was built a month(s) before.

Parts that I have replaced on it....
#Autobox (Took the whole day, don't want to do it again).
#Maf (This job was made by FMD workshop)
#2 exhaust manifolds
#Steeringrack
#All of the CV joints
#Shockers and springs (Twice)
#A few bushes
#The joints on the propellershaft (Centred them myself got really god) saved alot of money there
#Brake discs and pads
#Hydraulics to the ABS/TPS
#Cat
#A few bushes

The compression in all cyl was 12bars, checked due to low performance and high fuel consumption, turned out to be the cat.

The car was and is still in very good condition, got £2000 for it even though it had the high milage.

My Scorp 2.0 16v Ghia estate was first registered 08/95 she now has a whooping 183k on her but was a company car till 2003, has had a major service every year since she went on the road, has a reconditioned gearbox and a reconditioned head, exhaust system replaced by me last month, she just needs some more work to make her nice again, new front bumper, dent knocked out NS Wing and a new set of alloys, will post pics when she is brought back to standard, even for her mileage she drives like a dream and is near silent when running

I know some cars have low mileage...Lee Allen on here has a very nice facelift Cosworth on an R plate with 32000 miles but to have a car 10 years old doing 3800 miles average per year??

If you weigh up the original cost of say Lees Car (list was about £28,000) then you add in the cost of the fuel at an average of say 22mpg (to allow for round town and motorway) that is about 1,455 gallons of fuel at a cost per gallon of £3.66 (todays price I know but hey I am not doing that sum!!)

That works out at £5,325.00 plus the original cost = £33,325.00 so that would be £1.04 per mile plus tax plus tyres plus services etc. etc. That makes for one expensive car.

If you then realise that Lee paid about £4,000.00 for his car, you realise just how much you would lose if you had bought one of these cars new!!
