BROADBAND ROUTER ADVICE PLEASE...

right then, after a few weeks of pondering,i have now made the switch to broadband, and am now up and running, and am well impressed, but what i want to do now is purchase/install a router (i have recently purchased a laptop as well,so want to share the connection between the 2,hence me downstairs on the desktop, and whoever in the garden etc. on the laptop),what i want to know is this, can anyone recommend a decent wireless router,a couple of mates have mentioned belkin, but this means nothing to me,all i want is someone who has a good idea on these things, and can make some recomendations to me...
thanks in advance...

Belkin are ok! I have a cheap old Aries one and it works fine!
www.savastore.com are very good - get all my gear from them!

If you get an ADSL modem with built-in wireless router, you will be able to use the laptop without needing the other PC on.

Does the laptop already have a wireless card? You may have to check the protocol (802.11b or g!) to ensure the router will talk to it! Wink

Hope this helps mate

I use Netgear routers at work and don't have any problems with them.  I'd recommend them.

(For my money, I'd steel well clear of USRobotics kit)

Craig can recommend these people http://www.transparentcommunications.com/acatalog/Broadband_Router_Modem s.html

the Model we have just purchased is this one the only thing to check is that it has a network cable with it, but it has a built in fire wall and is relatively easy to set up.

SMC 7804 WBRA  or this one DG834G V2 Netgear

Have look around and get the one that suits you and your pocket... Good luck

Brilliant service from this firm can recommend them.
