Breakdown Cover

Hello all. I'm with the AA at the moment. My cover includes Relay and Home Start. Trouble is, although the AA service is good, it's costing me an arm & a leg! Has anyone got any experience between the different breakdown services or any price comparisons, as I'd be interested to hear them. PS: I might not be able to respond to anyone before Monday as I am out for a lot of the weekend. Thanks. Roger.

Hi Roger I have my car insured fully comp with Priviledge, I have the top breakdown cover included in the policy. If i breakdown anywhere in Europe they will try to fix my car, if they cant they will tow it to a garage and give me a hire car till mine is fixed. This cost me £75 as I received a £25 no call out discount last year on my breakdown cover. But it doesnt real matter as there is not a lot they can do with a scorpio at the roadside

I'm with Green Flag and been with them for about 12 years with 4 different cars....never had any trouble apart from once when the garage they sent out told me i needed a replacement distributor on a Ford Orion...turned out to be a stuck-on choke causing the rough running!!! Green Flag use local garages to respond and I've got fully comp (which means they will deliver me & passengers to my destination and take the car away for repair) and home start for £83 per year. HTH I don't thinks that's bad value!

You may want to look at www.moneysavingexpert.com Scroll down to Latest money saving articles and there's an item on roadside assistance. The site as a whole is well worth a read! HTH, Wayne.

Hello all, Sorry I have been a while acknowledging your replies, but I posted the question on Friday, went away for the weekend, and on Monday was called into the office at work and told I was being made redundant - there and then! 5 others were also made redundant - due to changes in the way the business is run. That makes the third set of redundancies in 3 years! Needless to say, I spent last week just lookig for jobs. If I don't find something soon, the Scorp will have to go. I'm not a youngster any more and finding a job at my age is not going to be easy - especially at the salary I was getting. Please wish me luck, as I am definitely going to need it! Thanks. Roger.

Many thanks. I'll let you know how I get on. Give me a while, as I will be surprised if I get anything worthwhile quickly. Roger.
