How Cold !

Hi !
Just wandering how cold is in your regioun and if your scorp still starts.
I'll start first, with a maximum temperature of -16 put the key in contact, say a little pray, turned the key, the starter could barley rotate the engine, all the lights on the dashboard went almoust off......i said .....the blasted battery gave up....i'll have to walk to work. In this time i was still keeping the starter on....after a 5-6 seconds when it almoust died.....the engine fired.....  (happy happy joy joy). Got the cold wheater beep (red snow flake) temp was showing -16. The rev went to 1600 rpm....It iddled so for about a minute and slowly decreased to ~1200 rpm. Fuel compsumption was about 3.5 liters/hour  . The strange thing was that the engine had a rattle.....and was shakeing (ritmically)  (what could it be from .. )
Now i only hope that the car will start later when i'll want to get home....and the temperature will drop to -20  .....and the wind is blowing hard .....

Phew thats cold.
We seem to be luckier with weather.
The weather forecast this evening is for -4 or -5 out in the country and -1 or -2 in towns, we should be ok, but if any body has a suspect battery it will probably make itself felt in the next few days.

Drowe home inthe bad weather whitch was in norway last week, and that was the rear end when i got home after 7hours driving....
-12 then, now its +4.... (Bodø Norway)

Nice number plate you have there.....perfect for traffic cameras......it's like saying "read my number if you can  "
I have made it home with the car . But this time it started eaven harder.....the sound of the starter motor was like it was on it's way out, barely could turned the engine.....lights went almoust off again. But it started..... .....and i have took the long way home just to warm it a bit, lucky there wasn't any ice on the roads and i could put the pedal to the metal a few times (after the engine warmed up). Imediatly after start up, the rattleing sound commed again (could it be the valves ). Thanks god for the electric heated chairs otherwise i would froze till death (jokeing ).
A good joke: Yahoo ! weather is saying that the minimum temperature today it will be -15 degrees, but it now shows an avarge of -17 ......and the night haven't commed yet.

Well the UK Met office continually talk out of thier arse!
They said this would be the coldest UK winter on record. Maybe some folks got a bit of snow earlier on but up here in Northern Highlands its averaging +10 at the moment.
Suffice to say that the ski areas up here have no snow at all and theres only 9wks of the ski season left.
It was in the paper lat last week that the winds would blow from Russia and it would be drasticly cold wednesday onwards. According to the weather wbesite now wednesday onwards is going to be sunny and +8 here in Inverness. +13 on saturday.
I think they say its going to be a bit of everything just to cover all eventualities when really they dont have a bloody clue

Hello !
Gues what, after a few warm days ( up to almoust 10 degrees) now it is snowing, and it's windy, -8 C. Bad thing is that now that i have changed the "work-place" i'm not cruising to work because of the traffic so i'm using the tram. With the car i'll do about 30 minutes, with the "alternative" transporation will do about 10 minutes. Another bad thing is that the new company i work at doesn't let the employees to use the parking and there is no parking next to for a 3 mile radius .
