Does anyone know anything about these annoying ads on Ebay for upto 20BHP power mods? Is it a chip and how does it effect power/emissions/mpg?

ive got one right here that i bought of him. never fitted it. basically it involves disconnecting the electrics off of the maf sensor, and putting this chip, which is actually a resistor, into the plug itself, rendering the maf sensor useless. the resistor fools the ecu into thinking more fuel is needed 100% of the time. i am sure you have read data on this site as to how important the maf sensor is, and how gearbox problems can put right with a new/cleaned/fully functional maf sensor. do you really want to risk what could potentially be expensive problems? if you want my advice, dont bother with it mate.....i havent. HAHA! Yep just a little resistor. They want to charge you anywhere from 5 to 25 pounds for one. In reality you could go to somewhere like maplins and buy one for something like 25p. Some of these sellers encase them in shiny looking boxes with the wires already in place. Makes you think you've just bought something really spectacular Like Russ says, save your money! Danny_R
