Not sure what I expect from this thread, but just thought I'd mention something... Having done a bit of work on the car recently, I have been surpised to find quite a few nuts, bolts and stuff of Imperial sizes. I would have expected this to be a totally metric motor, but no. I wonder why

The sump plug is 1/2" and not the 'nearly' 13mm The exhaust to Cat fixings are something like 9/16" I think. And to release the tension on the air-con belt required an imperial spanner rather than metric (can't remember the size now) Silly little things. Quite odd

check your spanners, sump lug should be 13mm, most nuts on exhaust 15mm, baring rusting away, & I thing 15mm on the belt tens.

Well I'm starting to think that these things can vary. Linking back to this... Sump Nuts Thread ... these new bolts are both different sizes. The black one (old type) is 1/2". Yes, 13mm fits but its loose. 1/2" is a good fit. The gold one is definitely 13mm.
