My wife just bought a Tesco mobile and her old O2 sim didn't work in the new phone. I think these days most phones that come with a sim are locked to that particular network.

Mind you go to any market these days and there will be half a dozen stalls that will gladly unlock any phone for you for £5-£10. There are even websites that will sell you the leads and software to do it yourself.

As for not being able to unlock t-mobile phones that is not true it is the phone that is locked to the sim and any phone can be unlocked as long as you have the correct data cable. Some networks do put there own firmware in the phones, which brand the phone to that particular network (most notably Vodafone and t-mobile) and this is a bit trickier to remove but can be done. This branding however will not prevent the phone from being unlocked.

Phone looks alright, I have generally found Nokias to be good reliable phones, never had a pink one though.

This website might be able to help with unlocking the phone, they can do it remotely. Haven't tried that before but thought it might be of help.

You might be able to unlock it for free!  I've got a Nokia unlock code generator program which worked on my company 6230 so now I can use my sim card in their phone when mine runs out of battery power - unfortunately it doesn't list the 6111.

Does not seem to be listed as an "unlockable " phone I think you may have to seek "proffesional "help to unlock that one ..NOT listed in my software either.

Unless there is a specific reason for staying with the network, why not request your PAC code from 02 and have your new mobi re-numbered to your present number.

I'm on 02 and not got the probs i had with others tho, so would stick there myself - not with a pink phone tho !

Can't you just get a standard colour phone and maybe a pink case to put it in?  Pink phones are very much a niche thing and you'll find it easier to sell one in a normal colour when the time comes to replace it...
