What Insrance / recomendation

My 17 year old son has just passed his test and is now a named driver on my wifes insurance for her Escort with The Farmers Union at a cost of £700/year, but now he want’s to buy his own car£££££!. I am insured with Churchill and my wife is a named driver on my insurance (I have DD on my licence) at a cost of £350/year. All the above are only TPFT. Does anyone have an insurance company they would recommend for family cover? I understand that Direct line do something where one insurance covers all drivers & all drivers gain there own no claims? Has any one got anything like this?

Hi  Smiley
I was recently poundering as to how much it would cost to insure my Granada now as second car. This would mean starting from scratch without any NCB (though I do believe that Directline (as seen on TV) will give discount on second vehicles if you are already insured with them).  After a few quotes each coming back surprisingly cheaper for fully comp. than TPF&F the average price was approx. £800, it was then that I also contacted a company called Adrian Flux

http://www.adrianflux.co.uk/

they deal a lot with classics and modified vehicles and take into account if your a member of an owners club, they came came back with a provisional price of ......... (wait for it).....£182  Shocked  Shocked  without any NCB. I didn't actually then follow this up as I was only curious but will most certainly enquire further when the other cars are due and I am ready to put the Granada back on the road!

I use confused.com, they search most insurance companies and you only need to enter your details the once Smiley

i use directline
and my misses is a named driver
and because of this she also gets a no claims bonus
so if she is on my insurance for three years she gets three years NCB
pretty good if your just starting out i guess Smiley

Just another question: - Has any one got or tried insuring there Vehicle/s, bricks & mortar, Contence & Life Insurance etc. all with one company? Would they give any incentive, like heavy discount, to do so?

I know COOP do and Royal Insurance also give discount for home/contents so I would have thought YES well worth asking for a discount if you go that route.

It’s all gone pear shaped!! Wife’s Escort has just been involved in an accident & is beyond economical repair. Hit & Run, TPFT, so no payout but at least no one was seriously hurt & cars can be replaced.
