hey all

well, as the 2.3 estate project car is almost back on the road and then up for sale, i decided to find another project and as i don’t have room for another scorpio, i bought the next best thing, a 2.9 v6 cossie lump Cheesy came with all the power steering pump, ac compressor, alternator and every thing. The engine was a full runner but as the car pats probs and had covered 130000 miles. so i thought  i'd recon it. ive now stripped it completely down to nothing (so many bits) and priced a few new parts up

one of these parts was new piston rings. spoke to ford who said they no longer stock them and if i wanted some it was either £100 each or £1400 for a set of new pistons with the rings already on them.

i then proceeded to walk out of the FMD quite quickly... Angry

so does any one know where i can get a new set of rings from at a sensible price,

tech stuff:

they are grade 2 cylinders with a standard bore size

I have sent you a mail back.

Must ask why do you want to replace the pistons rings.
They usally last a long time.

just doing a complete referb as a long term project, more then likely wont start to rebuild till october time,

as for the rings, when removing one of the pistons, the oil ring broke, also on cylinder 3 there are signs of scouring.

if you can get a full set of gaskets (top and bottom) and seals that would be fantastic!

B G Automotive http://www.bgautomotive.co.uk/
Are good gaskets.

I usally keep an eye on ebay & buy 5 sets at a time.

The last batch worked out £24 a head set Wink

Sorry mate only 2 sets left which I need.

If you get stuck for a piston or rings I will have some good low mile ones.  As I said I don't use them.
