Hi Craig:

We've had the Livebox package for the last five years now. Originally bought it when the ISP was Freeserve, then Wanadoo, and now Orange.

Golden Rule:  You MUST disable ALL firewalls or anti virus programmes that you may have installed BEFORE you start to install the package. This includes the Windows (built in) firewall presuming you are using XP.

If you don't do this, the installation will fail.

Apart from that, the installation of the livebox is simple. Follow the steps on the installation CD and you won't go wrong.  You MUST also put the supplied filters onto any incoming (connected) phone lines, as otherwise you will be cut off every time the phone goes. Phone lines that you don't use (ie to which no phone is attached) are no problem.

We have the livebox, and three wireless adaptors. The main PC runs directly from the livebox through an ethernet cable (supplied) and our other PC's and laptops run from wireless adaptors.

You won't need your router anymore. The livebox does the whole thing.

The whole setup has been brilliant, and we've only had ONE disconnection due to an electrical storm.

Highly recommended. If you run into any probs, then PM me. I've installed it for several people, and know most if not all of the problems with the installation.  Smiley

hi..
thanks for the reply, seems straight forward enough, yes, all 4 computers (3 laptops,1 desktop)all run XP,all 3 laptops are wireless enabled, and the phone lines already have the filters (funny you say you have been with orange snce the freeserve days,me also, still have/use my freeserve mail address),1 other question though,i installed my original broadband modem when i switched over to broadband, but had to get a guy in to install/make secure the router, will i have to do that to the livebox or will it be secure enough?
(dont want all the residents sat outside my house using there laptops on my connection   Grin)
thanks again

No problem. When you do your installation, you will be asked for your WEP number, which is unique to your phone line and equipment. Without this, they can't touch you. The livebox handles everything.
You will still need to re-activate your virus protection/firewalls when you have done the installations.

Yeah, like you, we still have a Freeserve.co.uk email address. 'Bout time Orange got their fingers out on this one!!

Hope it all goes OK.  Smiley
