Still not touched it yet Mike. Just got back from a family party in Aylesbury so that ruled out this weekend. Last weekend I was working to get the backlog of customers down and next weekend we are off to see Robbie in Milton Keynes so no repairs then either.

I have the small cooler radiator and I intend to renew all of the seals and gaskets as needed. I am assuming that is all that will need doing. If it needs any more work than that I will either stick a new gearbox on it or break it for parts to fund the new S Class!!

With a few changes such as torque converter and bell housing it probably will. Like I said though, time is not abundant at the moment!

Mind you, I do have a Transit van to drive at the moment!

Take advice the 2.3 gear box is NOT the same as the 2.9 cosworth one.  NOT as strong fewer brake bands and such like. My advice would be to get your own rebuilt by specialist if you intend keeping the car.

OK... an update.

A very nice man came and took my car away today on a trailer to take it to the auto box specialists recommended by Mike....(I hope they are good!!) He is expecting to have it back to me by the end of Wednesday. New seal and bush and I asked him to change the filter while he was at it so will need a new sump gasket. Hopefully when it gets back it will be top notch again!

Just got to remember to tax it tomorrow now before I go and pick it up! Mind you unless I'm speeding they probably won't catch me anyway!! Grin

Suggestion:
What you need to do next Baz is what I did after I had the auxillary oil cooler fitted and that is to mesh the gap in the bumper. My cooler (non-genuine as I never had one) is quite large and low down and as it is seated vertically it did look particulary vulnerable. There was no need to drill any holes as I was able to use existing holes underneath in the front crossmember to attach it using plastic poppin rivits. (These are proberly where the Ford one should have been fastened to knowing my luck.)

OK,

picked the car up tonight and apart from a slight vibration it runs like a dream. The cabin stinks of burnt auto fluid so will need to get that sorted. Went to tax the car tonight but it turned out that during the 2 months it has sat on the drive, the MOT ran out!! Car booked in tomorrow and should fly through and then get taxed in the afternoon and we are back in business. It needs a serious wash and polish now ready for the next meeting!
