Kimi, i used to work for fulham football club and luckily got to drive a few nice cars, i drove a later model volvo 850 (i think it was that, flash looking top range type thing) saloon, it drove well but i wasnt very impressed with the interior, i had just driven a similar priced lexus so did a quick comparison; the volvo had the 'mean n meaty looks' but i thought the lexus was by far the better car overall.

Kimi, Before I got my 24v I lookad at loads of older T5's and a few v70's to be honnest the t5's were a quick car but fealed cheap and plasticy in comparison to the scorp. I even had a test drive in a new v70 estate and it did feal like the build quality was better than the older ones, but still not that great. I had always fancied a t5 but was disapointed when I had a closer look at them. Another thing I did notice was three out of about twelve of the older ones I looked at had head gasket probs, mayonaise on the dip stick etc.

My mate has just purchased a ford S max and I am very impressed. It has a 2.5 turbo petrol motor and 220bhp He did get the full package so it has all the toys and very nice leather. The only downside for me is its over £20k Should I win the lottery I will have one for sure.

Thankyou , food for thought. The main reason I fancied one ( a Volvo that is ) is because the poolice use them and put starship miles on them , chasing around like Spastic & Crutch trying to catch the little darlings who steal cars rather than work hard and buy them like the rest of us !!!yes I know they are well ?? serviced and cash is not a problem for them so I assumed they were good. The cars that you looked at , did they have the Ford engine ? As for your mates car I'm about £18000 short ! P.s salad cream on the dipstick does not always mean a head gasket problem, when an engine is cold you get condensation on the inside as you do with car windows , when it has been a full tempreture for a few miles it burns off just as it does with the windows. The only real test is to pressure test the system.....Kimi....
