mr floppy if you look verry verry hard at the picture you will see the trafic lights, but who cares about them, when this things happen all the time   @ and to make matters worse this happens because of the "good knowledge" of the "best" drivers like taxi drivers and bmw drivers (the worse in this country)....they always ignore trafic rules. You can see the yellow taxies are the most ones in exactly the middle of the junction  @, they always pass you by on the other side of the road, as you se on the and over the tram lines  Angry. And now about the police, anyone of you can spot a policeman to help Huh ...nope...all of them are on free roads preparing the radar gun, and giving parking tickets  Lips Sealed

Bloody hell! just like r33per the thoughts of 'where's wally' sprang to mind. Are you sure this wasn't caused by a scorp breaking down?

This is just one of the main streets from the capital city Bucharest. Instead we only have two motorways, A1 and A2. A1 is usualy called the road of death, because it's always in construction and getting repairs over different sectors so it's a real hell sometimes and a lot of accidents / jams on it. The A2 is "new" build jut a few years ago and it is in pretty good condition.

PS on A1 it was the first time that my scorp saw an excess speed of over 125 mph  Grin

Believe me, once you get across the Channel, traffic lights (as we know them in Britain), cease to have the same importance to local traffic!!! And that's putting it VERY politely!

I've driven in most European countries, and the further away from GB you get, the more horrific it becomes.

Putting it at its most simple. nobody gives a toss about traffic lights in some of these sort of traffic jams. They don't have cameras all over the place like us, so the law is totally and routinely ignored wherever possible. The police just use whistles and jump up and down in animated fury, but I've never, ever seen anyone booked, even though the police are standing by the lights.

Worst  places I've driven in are Paris, where a car shot past us at a junction, straight into another vehicle (across a red light), the two drivers jumped out, swore and gesticulated wildly, as only the excitable French can do, at each other, and then drove off!!

Heraklion on the island of Crete whilst on holiday, (thanks to my wife for 'navigating' me straight into the very thick of the City centre. An experience that I still have violent nightmares about), and Istanbul where they have numerous policemen at the junctions  who literally take their lives into their hands, jumping in front of cars to get them to stop moving at red lights. You've got to see it to believe it.

Scary.....Yes you bet it is!! Shocked

Somebody said TurkeyHuh Hey I made 30000km almost in 10 months So I know my traffic very well...  and once I got fined because I drove my car around 110km/h where it was supposed to be 55... But mainly nobody cares about traffic issue. There are some camera systems but it is not situated in everywhere.

A story; I was driving at countryside motorway(TEM) in at 1 am and I made 2-3 km in 30 minutes because there was a road maintenance.

I remembered that I made 45 km in 3 hours and there was no special thing such as road maintenance or accidents...

the thing is there is no hairy style traffic in turkey unlike those in romania because people usually do obey traffic lights(crossing the at the red is a very few issue)

But the most stupid thing must be going bumper to bumper( a Turkish term which means there are few cm between cars) around 100 km/h in a snowy night.

We realy do have traffic lights, and in general we obey them, but a few jerks in one busy morning can wrek chaos to all traffic in a junction  Tongue. I think we are the only country that have "comunitary police" meaning a car hat parols at 20-30 km/h and keep all traffic at iddleing speed  Angry. We also got a main road / not highway full of speed cameras, and all the main roads have police crews with radars. Belive me they are verry good at giveing you a ticket but not making the traffic go well  Undecided
