INSURANCE Recommendation.

My Daughter who's just 22 learned to drive last year. She bought (outright) with her own hard earned cash (£1900),  a small Citroen Saxo 1.1 to take her  to her job in Exeter which is a 50 mile round trip journey for her.

All has been fine. Car brilliant, and no problems until October 6th when.....some Ass-wipe in a Rover piled into the back of her, when he was unable to stop on the main A380 trunk road, as traffic slowed down suddenly.

Because he was going too bloody fast!! Because he was going too bloody fast!! Because he was going too bloody fast!! Because he was going too bloody fast!! Because he was going too bloody fast!! Because he was going too bloody fast!! Because he was going too bloody fast!! Because he was going too bloody fast!! Because he was going too bloody fast!! Because he was going too bloody fast!! Because he was going too bloody fast!! Because he was going too bloody fast!! Because he was going too bloody fast!! Because he was going too bloody fast!!

Police attended. Free interview in the big white car for him!!    NoNo PRAT  NoNo

Fortunately she wasn't injured, but her car was declared a write off last week. Lots of tears!!  Cry  Cry

FULL MARKS THEN  Cheesy  to Endsleigh Insurance of Cheltenham (who specialise in new and young drivers, without ripping them off), for giving her a good value for her car,. For giving her a Brand New Vauxhall Astra 1.6 (2006 Model) as a Courtesy car whilst they sorted it out. For communicating quickly and efficiently (Thanks Laura), and for generally being about as helpful as possible.

First cars are always the same I think. You fall in love with them. But yesterday she went out with me, and with her settlement (received already), and a bit of help from her generous Grandad, and advice from Dad, etc etc, she's got a lovely Y Reg (2001) Saxo VTRi 1.6 which she has fallen in love with, and will pick up on 1st Nov.  Grin

FULL MARKS to Endsleigh, and if you've got a young driver, or someone learning, then I for one will give them my very highest recommendation!  Grin

She's a really Happy Bunny again, and it's so nice to be able to deal with an Insurance Company who look after their customers this well.  Cheesy

At last something positive to say about an insurance company, very happy for your girl Smiley Bet insurance is a bit steep on the Saxo though, good car with only 1 years no claims?

Thanks for the info.
Have now passed their name on to a young lad I know on the lookout for insurance. So far he has been quoted stupid figures such as £10500 ......yes thats 10 thousand for an 03 reg Corsa  Shocked  Shocked and he has no convictions.  Lips Sealed

Let us know Mike. I bet they will hammer that. It's absolutely ridiculous!  Angry

It's a shame these OTHER companies don't give younger drivers a bit of a hand. At a time when they won't have much money, probably be nervous as hell about driving, and need all the support they can get, they just get ripped off by some of these Shark companies!

They aren't all tearaways!! Most of them, I bet, just need a car, like my Daughter does, to go to work, and see their friends at weekends. Gives them that first step to independance.

Just spoken to my Daughter.
Insurance for this Citroen Saxo VTR 1.6i  (It's a Y reg) not W as I thought,  is £860 a year. She's 22 with no no claim bonus as yet. She'll have 1 year on Nov 23rd.

Seems very reasonable to me, as I've been told these cars are quite nippy.

Endsleigh
Way, way back I seem to remember that Endsleigh were part of the National Union of Students (NUS).
Glad to hear they're keeping up the good work for young people.

It now turns out that he had decided that he no longer wanted to buy the car so never bothered getting a quote from them .   Lips Sealed

Never mind there's always next time.  Thanks again  Wink

Insurance cost me a bomb, paid in installments for the first couple of years, one of those no-win situations where young drivers get stung for being responsible. With Direct Line now, did give Endsleigh a look though a while back though.

£1500 the first year I had the Scorpio, now down to £850 just turned 22 with 3 years no claims. Got a quote on another Jag V12 last month, getting to the age now where it'll cost me less than it does even for the Scorp, why though escapes me; £820 fully comp. They'd still rush me £2k for a Beemer M3 though (I'm not the Beemer sort of chappy Wink), no idea how the yob down the road from me affords to scream around in an M3 convertible, unless it's really a badge engineered 318i...

Regards, Bruce.
