Classic New Labour.............. We're all in favour of people power/ democracy/consultation............ UNTIL the emperor has no clothes on and we look like a bunch of out of touch Trots Ho Hum, can't see any change at the next election and then we'll be part of the People's Republic of Scotland. New Zealand is very nice I believe........... DH Dove

Hi All Sorry to kill that thread stone dead.........I was in a particularly Xenophobic anti-New Labour mood. Anyway, since then I have found that WHEN road pricing is introduced in the UK the devolution terms with Scotland mean that it cannot be enforced there without the Scottish Parliament agreeing Business as usual then.............. Legislation can be introduced, doesn't mean we have to abide by it. Look at the French, a smoking ban in Public Places was introduced last week, no-one took a blind bit of notice of it and continued to puff away as usual. The newly built Skye Road Bridge introduced a whopping toll of £15, everyone refused to pay it and a year later the toll was dropped. They can bring in Road Pricing , but if we all protest and flout the Law, then it will have to be repealed. In this country we have lost the ability to protest about unjust Laws. It seems it's only bloody Fox-Hunting that gets people's danders up !!
