Been wanting to do this for a while now, so here is the first incarnation. It was a trial run to see how they sounded and I am very happy. When I get some more door cards I am going to do a more indepth speaker build and I will be taking photos along the way. All credit for the idea goes to Richard M S as he put some in his doors long before me (Thanks for the idea Richard)

That looks great Al, the 7000 system isn't bad but the fronts in mine were really lacking You wouldn't consider doing an install in an XJ would you? The XJ has a set of 6" drivers and they pack quite a punch but I think the foam surrounds in the fronts are starting to perish Regards, Bruce P.S: Mushroom (sorry, pumice) interior looks loverly, ash black Ultima with pumice leather...mmmmm...

What are you going to drive that lot with Al If you are wiring them through the existing wiring in series then you'll have to add another speaker and wire them in series and parallel to make the 8 ohms. Like this, This site may help you understand. http://colomar.com/Shavano/speaker.html

Ahh yes ohms law had that discusion many times down the pub. Its going to be a major wiring job to get it how I want it. At the minute I am using a sony head unit with a a jbl amp. However, This amp is getting on a bit and doesnt realy cut the mustard for this set up. What I propose to do is give each pair of speakers there own amp not forgetting the 6x9's on the rear shelf. Thats four amps, Obviously they will need some extra power so a big dry cell battery will be sourced from a mate and a power cap for each amp would be nice. I will eventualy do something fancy in the boot with that little lot The balance on the head unit will control the errrmmm balance and I am experimenting with a bank of audio quality potentiometers to control the fade of each pair of speakers.(pair as in across the car) If this works out I will house this in the dash converter pocket below the head unit. As I said its going to be a pain and the seats and carpet will have to come out to make the saggetti tidy. But it will be worth it After all that I may be able to hear my s club cd's instead of this d**n ringing in my ears

Not really a problem, as long as your amp can drive 2 ohm loads...if it can't you'll soon find out Most hi-fi amps are rated 4 ohm min but I used to have a pair of home brew boxes with 4 x 8ohm subs in each (2 ohm load) and my amps at the time ran them fine. What you gotta remember is that lower ohms = more heat and your amp might not like being baked Also be careful about connecting drivers up in series, sometimes it can b****r the phasing up and cancel out your bass Tweeters in parallel with woofers don't really cause a problem, because they're both handling different frequencies, filtered by the crossovers. Can't wait to see this done, eh? What was that you said? I'm sorry old chap, I can't hear you with this ringing in my ears Regards, Bruce .

Brilliant Al, how did you make 'em? Looks like some careful crafting of MDF and glassfibre matting there I'll post the car to you when I'm near the post office Regards, Bruce
