Jonny as much as a cruise sounds good if or when the rav4 is handed over selling it is not an option.
The wife would be over protective of it.
Hmmmm , That sounds familiar. It may not be a bad thing that she gets a car of her dreams she may even start to understand the basics of scorp ownership.

You could booby trap the Rav4, so it keeps breaking down & needs loads of work....who would want to keep a car that unreliable ?.....Hmmm  Grin

There is the other consideration that the road tax will be higher on the Audi & Rav4 than the Scorp  Wink

Funny this should come up.

My neighbour has a RAV 4 and is always saying that he wishes that he'd just bought an ordinary car.

When I say, "Why don't you then", he always says....because it's handy for taking stuff to the tip!!

And that just about sums up my view of them too.  Trouble is, he keeps bringing the thing back!   Grin

That Audi is Beuooooooootiful. NO comparison.

Oh Yes, I am the boss in this house (when she's not in) Grin
To be honest I reckon the chances of me getting the missus to change her mind are roughly zero. I did mention the audi last night and I was shot down in flames Cry
I only wish I had space to store the scorp for a decade or so.
Not sure whats happening actualy my dad would apear to have gone a bit quiet on the matter.
Tiberius,
What is the performance like on the jag in comparison to a 24v?
And, if I should find my self looking at one is there any common faults I should look out for Wink

You'll get me shot Al, drop me a PM if you want advice Grin Wink

Nice car to drive but you'd miss the Scorp for versatility Roll Eyes

Solution: Re-invent the Scorp as a handy outside storage cubicle with lots of doors and a lockable storage box fully loaded with halogen garden lighting system and garden hifi system, space for charcoal-free 24v bbq under the bonnet Cool.

Al - your good lady has got her way with the Rav4, could you not just sell the 206 and keep the Scorpio for yourself  Huh

That Audi is a lovely car, someone I know has one  Cool BUT it costs a fair chunk to run and is, by his own admission, sometimes too big. It also seems to attract the attention of the local vandals, with its fair share of key marks down the sides  Shocked

Agree

I know the scorps can be dear for parts, but you dont wanna know the cost of a transmission rebuild on the Audi.

Summers here, I'd sell the Pug and buy a jet ski, hook it on the Rav and go to the beach.

Thus keeping your beloved 24v for yourself..... Problem solved. Wink

Just by way of an update.
My Dad reckons he was taking the rav to be serviced etc before he handed it over and spotted a one in the showroom of similar age with a £8995 tag in the window.
He claims he had no idea that the car was worth as much and therefore he will be giving us a few quid instead. Cry Cry Cry
I did think it was too good to be true, especially after he helped us drink numerous bottles of wine over dinner.
Lets just wait and see what his few quid turns out to be.  Undecided
On a happy note that takes away any doubt over the scorps futer. After all it does have ny name on the reg and it is a normal plate that was on the car when I got it.
I was getting those sinking fealings thinking the scorps days were numbered.
So its a kind of sad but happy fealing Huh

Being a Tuesday my old man has been round for his dinner again, it is exactly one weak since he made that first conversation about getting rid of one of his cars.
So as he said we would get a few quid instead of the rav4.
It was quite funny actually he turned up in the audi and walked in with a carrier bag fulll of three bottles of wine in his hands
His words were get one of them open an we will do business.
Now in my house we are quite old fasioned business is a dead to be done between men while the wife cooks dinner.
Please dont get me wrong I am far from a chauvinist but its just the way things are in this house. I do not medal with domestic matters and the missus leaves business matters to me.
Anyway. Me and the old man retired to the lounge with a tipple each.
He laid on the table one brown envolope and his car keys (audi)
He said thats for you son.
For a moment I was thinking the car and a few quid but he soon corrected me and said the envolope is for you not the car. Cry
So trying to be polite I thanked him sincerely and gave him a hug.
So we will not be getting the rav nor the audi but when he left I opened the envelope and inside was £2k in twenties.
So a fine result when all said and done, just a bit short of a rs 8 but it will pay for a cracking summer holiday for the family.
