see's james toseland pit his honda fireblade against tiff in the latest honda civic type R............why? what is the point? if its a bog standard blade it'll do 0-60 in under 3 seconds with a top speed of around 170mph, if its his actual race bike......... why do these shows do car v bike things? whats the point? due to the power to weight ratio bikes are quicker off the line. motogp bikes are also faster through the speed traps on grand prix circuits than F1 cars, however, the cars probably do a quicker lap due to faster cornering, you can turn quicker with 4 wheels planted. if you're going shopping take the car, if you need to get somewhere quickly take the bike. if you want the best fun on tarmac ride bikes, if you like safety and dont want gravel rash, broken spine etc drive cars. there, debate done......

with you Taliban. Pointless. Absolutely pointless, and anyway.....Who cares? It's like most of these silly U Tube things. To me, it shows that they are running out of ideas. There must be SO much more interesting things to show us.

| Yep, they're following Top Gear's example - use idiotic 'challenges' to help fill up the hour. Still like to watch 'em though for the motors.

Dear All Top Gear used to film at the airfield where I work before they got their current location. (with associated Planning difficulties) For a short while I worked in the Control Tower and did some PR work (used to rustle up the Bacon sarnies etc. for the presenters and crew). They were, at that time having a big debate as to where the programme was going......... I well remember having a conversation with JC, well more of "I gave him my opinion and he told me I was "pond life" re the way the prog was going. ie up until then Top Gear had in the main tested cars that "ordinary people" (thee and me) could buy........Cortinas, Granadas, Cavaliers etc.etc. with the exotica thrown in for interest . He told me in no uncertain terms that that was not what Joe Public wanted and they would concentrate on the Exotica...... Shortly afterwards Tiff Needell left Quentin Wilson left Vicki B-H left And "Fifth Gear", "C4 car prog? "- what's it called) etc. etc started. Top Gear got the hamster and the long haired guy with the Bentley (a sop to older/Classic owner viewers?),and "The Stig", a racetrack and went on their current way. I think it's a shame that the BBC can only produce a motoring programme that the vast majority of motorists in this country cannot relate to because nearly everything featured on it is outside of their price range. BUT There you have it. NB IMHO Quentin Wilson........prob one of the most switched on motoring correspondents around. Tiff Needell.......a GREAT driver, took me around the airfield in a Ferrari 360 Mondial in the wet, sideways, under full control at v. high speed and never touched the brakes.....purely on throttle control, AWESOME - an experience I will never forget. Vicki B-H...........it was a pleasure to meet her. JC Should have stood for Mayor of London........ Best Wishes DH Dove

i spose useful information on cars we might buy is mundane and doesnt pull in the viewing figures.....lack of glitz about it. Vicki is great (maybe being a man my opinion is slightly 'swayed' ), but hasnt Quentin or Tiff (cant remember which) gained a conviction for 'haircutting' cars? p.s. haircutting=clocking....

I personally much prefer top gear to 5th gear, and unlike most blokes VBH really gets on my tits, she annoys me every time she opens her trap. As for 5th gears ace cafe format I'm not a fan of it. I do however watch both 5th and top gear as I'm a car nut and some of the stuff each week is normally of interest. Paul
