Just Bought a 1979 Lincoln Continental, 460 Cubic Inch engine (7.2L)V8. From bumper to bumper it measures 21 feet long! I know a lot of you don't like American cars on here but for those who do here's some pictures... Danny_R

Similar to the one old TV Tec. Cannon used to drive ? 7.2 litres ? makes my 4.6 litre look postively frugal for fuel economy. Rolls Royce took Lincoln to court over the flagrant copying of the radiator grille, but, after months of litigation, eventually gave up, thinking impersonation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Yes it does Andrew, in fact for a car from the 70's is has quite a long list of gadgets and gizmo's that all still work, amazing.

Phwoarrr, that's a burly brute Makes my 16ft 7" motah look almost small, hope the parking bays at Walmart are bigger than at Tescos Don't mind me asking Danny but what did they rush you for it? Looks in some condition for a 28 year old car. Regards, Bruce.

| Lol! nope still got the police car for the time being, I put over 200,000 on her and she's still going. Thinking about selling soon though. My new Lincoln is strictly a weekend/going out to dinner car Quote:Phwoarrr, that's a burly brute Makes my 16ft 7" motah look almost small, hope the parking bays at Walmart are bigger than at Tescos Don't mind me asking Danny but what did they rush you for it? | It set me back $1000. Hell of a lot of car for 500 pound ey? Only thing wrong with it is it needs a new water pump which i've sourced for $30. Apart from that just a few dash bulbs etc.. nothing much. That 7.2 sound beautiful when you start it up Kind Regards Danny

Danny, I'm not the world's biggest fan of yank tanks admitted but been looking on the net, that's quite a car you've got there. Methinks you did well for $1000

WOW. That's some beastie. You'd never run it over here in the Uk though. Not on our petrol prices.

Thanks for the comments guys. Engine pictures to come Quote:by the way what torque / power does it develop ? |
| Not as much as you might think. These are the only specs I can find: Torque: 315 ft.-lb. at 1800 RPM

I like it. The front even looks a bit menacing, reminds me of a 70`s horror B movie called "The Car". I don`t know what it was, but it used to drive itself and run people over. I would think 315 ft-lb at such low revs is good. You could probably pull away in top gear and just ride and endless seem of power, unless its an auto. Cracking car for the money, but no one in the UK could afford to run it. Saying that, I cant afford to run my cossie everyday Jamie
