24v Radiators

I know a few people have now replaced their 24v radiators with one from a 2.0, 2.3, 12v etc
who has used what radiator?
Any problems fitting it?
anyone had any problems at all?
I replaced mine with a 2.3 rad and coolant tank over two years ago and its still going strong.
I know Geoff (Thunderchild) also did his.
I think the ballooned rad is purely down to a manufacturing fault in the 24v radiators themselves
Unless anyone can ballon a 2.3 one on a 24v

Hi Highlander, is there any mojor changes required to convert to a 2.3 rad as mine has now balloned?

Hi there,
Yep I repaced the radiator on my Cossie with one from a 2.3 which Highlander kindly supplied. Had to change the header tank as well since the new rad didn't have the connector for the small hose which runs from the header tank to the top of the rad. Easy swap with no issues and it is still running sweet as a nut.

Yep, as Geoff says the radiator is a straight swap, the coolant tank for the 2.3 has only two side hose connections where the 24v has three (extra one goes to the top of the 24v rad) so just swap your 24v tank for a 2 hose version.
Someone on the mailing list was going to try and use the same tank and just block the third hose connection but never heard how they got on with it.
I'd go for the tank change though personally

You could just put a bung in a short lengh of hose and fit it with a couple of jubilee clips.... cheaper

I replaced my rad with one I got from a 2.9 V6 Granny. Took the lower waterhose as well and
rerouted the small hose in that to the tank. Worked very well. I replaced the thermostat
too and never had ballooning after that.
