Europe wide Scorpio owner meeting?

Hi everyone! I've been thinking of all the people who have participated in discussions in this great website and have an idea. How about organizing a Europe wide Scorpio meeting? People from different countries could participate and we could setup a meeting point somewhere in let's say Germany. Form a big queue of Scorpios and drive to a location in Europe. I would love to go to the source, Cologne where many great Fords were born. I'm sure there are people among us who have connections and it should not be too difficult to come up with a camping site around that area. This could take place at some time next year or a year after. Just an idea - They've done something like this with Mustangs in the USA, but they did it inside USA. Should this event take place, I'm sure there would be many people from different countries.... I volunteer to be in the arranging committee, but have never arranged meetings like this, so a senior members should take the lead, should this generate enough interest. From Finland, I'm sure I could easily come up with a colorful bunch of Scorpionists. I think we should include Granny owners into the list, because rest of the Europe knows it as "The Scorpio." How about it?

Cologne ....what about meeting up at Dagenham, where the great V6 Essex was born....the original birthplace of the Granada/Consul/Capri engine Why Ford ever replaced the Essex engine with the Cologne is beyond me .....maybe it was cheaper to produce the 2.8 Cologne engine in Germany than it was to produce the 3.0 Essex engine in Dagenham What was the fastest ?... ....3.0 litre Capri, or 2.8i litre Capri ?.... We all know it was the 2.8i ........ but what if the 3.0 Essex had had the fuel injection option ?...... .......now that would have been awesome The MK2 Granny never sounded like this...... [IMG]http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i101/jonnycab/th_6a8ba344.jpg[/IM G] Looks like German efficiency conquered over the almost American Essex V6 ...... Who were the real winners of WW2 ?

Why not Northampton? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosworth I guess the idea IN MY head was to gather people from all over Europe. into a sort of central location where everyone would have the same distance to travel (well, almost) I will start organizing this during the winter if we can come up with enough interest. So far there'st three of us interested if € / £ / NOK / work / car / wife / kids / mother in law / climate change / etc... permitting. It would be fun to gather all the scandinavian enthusiastics to Denmark and drive to Germany from there. Then meet the people from U.K. somewhere along the way... A weeks vacation in august / september 2008 ? September would be cool, I might continue to Medoc to run a marathon at Marathon du Medoc. Surely there would be plenty of spare parts along the way!

Sounds good to me, what about 'ex' Ford owners though? I doubt the Capri would be on the road by that time Jonny, you're not the first to say the Essex was better than the Cologne, ours was great, I never really touched the Capri 2.8's though. People said the Essex was wheezy, but that was probably the Ford carbs It also literally weighed a ton. Nice growl though, acceleration isn't everything and the V6 wasn't a slouch in those days

| Traitors! I don't have anything against that, but your Jag would look out of place in the Scorpio Queue Then again we need a fast pickup & delivery of spare parts, that could be you then!

I was talking about the Capri actually You could make it a classic Ford day or something, mainly Scorpio but any classic Ford welcome...worth a thought
