My brother in law has a problem with his Vectra and would like to know how to programme his key remote for central locking, any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

My lad had a vectra Luckily he's managed to get rid of it now after megaproblems and a week of layin underneath it. We found a Vectra owners forum on the web, try googling for it, however don't expect it to be as helpful as this site . Try here http://www.vvoc.com/ Hth Pete

First of all we need to establish as to whether the remote fob is new or used.

You don't mention what year the vehicle is Assuming it's a early Vectra otherwise know as the the Vectra B when the replacement battery was put in was the battery holder black or white. If white then your OK if black check to make sure that it's not loose and the very small and delicate electrical connections are not broke. If they are, after changing the battery place the holder back into it's original position and pack it up with paper to apply pressure to the terminals when the top is replaced. Hopefully this should allow the unit to still work, but it is only a temporary measure. Next programming. This method cannot be used for new fobs. Simply go to the car, place the ignition key in the ignition and turn to position 2 (ignition lights should now be illuminated) then press the buttons on the remote fob. The doors should now lock .... re-programming is now complete. If it is a Vectra C the same re-programming method can be used but ignore the battery holder advice as this is not applicable. HTH Mike
