hey all well as mentioned before ive been looking into fitting a spoiler to the boot of the saloon, the escorts one took my eye so ive bought a fiber glass replica one, it arrived today so i took a few quick pics, what do you think? needs a little reshaping to make it sit flat on the mounts and i might fit a break light into it,

Amazed it's the correct width Looks GOOD in picture 3 from the rear end but not so sure on the whole, saloons don't really suit spoilers....SORRY maybe I just need to see it finished and in the 'flesh'

i believe it started with a mk 4 escort Si, but ive seen them on loads of 'scorts since, it has a cut out for the escorts wiper arm to, which will need filling, and it doesnt sit flat so the center mount will need trimming, try and get one made out of fiber glass rather then plastic and it cose £400,000,000 (lets face it i dont want everybody coping me!!) no, the boot doesn't pop up on its own, the springs will need a bit more tension on them, but i rarely go in the boot it came off ebay

Looks good Matt but I think it would look better if you made the centre foot a lot narrower It is difficult trying to find a spoiler that suits the saloon.

| i might just cut it out all together, that way you'll be able to see the center break light in the back window

Looking good matt.Like the idea of removing the centre strut, but you may need to brace the length of the spoiler as it will weaken it a lot.Personaly i like it a lot & think it will be quite subtle when given a few coats of paint.Nice one

I put one on mine a couple of yrs ago,, came from a Saphire if I recall. Not as prominent as Matt's but I'm probably a lot older It carries the width fine and the boot still lifts on its own..

Hi Mat, I have just "aquired" a rear spoiler from a BMW E46 M3. It looks similar to the spoiler in the bottom picture. I will try it on a saloon I have and let you know how it fits if you are interested. Richie

i fancy the air grinder my self , i've got some metal mesh to help fill the hole and then some fiber glass and a good tin of filler, should have it looking top notch!

I'm definitely in the saloon anti-spoiler camp They look fairly good on the estate but i've never seen a saloon one that really blends in with the shape of the rear end I have played about with them in the past and i nearly liked the spoiler positioned at the front of the boot, along the bottom edge of the back windscreen but not enough to do it

Yes ,i had a good look at richards, but dont have the time to cut & blend one.I think it may end up being a mondeo one ,as i think it will be the most readily available & the less awkward to chop around to get it to fit.(Thats because im a lazy bu**er) .That said though, you dont often see many estates with roof spoilers anyway.
