Anybody remember the Racer Scorpio?

Well, after months of being completely Scorpio-less, something had to be done. There's now another two versions of the Racer Scorpio released Stock 2.5 TD estate, you can grab it from the first post here. Fantasy version, 'Cosworth RS6', you can grab it from the first post here. Finally you'll need Racer, you need to download '0.5.3 b8' from the downloads section on the left. You can grab it from here. You need a fairly good PC to run Racer (there's no minimum requirements, just try it and see how it runs). No spyware or other stuff to worry about, it's all free The performance version I made ages ago from photos sent to me by Richard MS and Octavian P, it's a fantasy performance version of the 24v, custom colours and polished 18" 7 spoke alloys, supercharged with 312bhp and limited 155mph top speed. The TD is still a 'beta', it needs some finishing on the rear end. But it drives nice. Physics are pretty good, I got all the camber/toe/engine settings from the manuals on the site. I could still do with rear suspension (toe/camber) settings too and some wheelrates. But other than that, they're accurate. The estate will be finished and released as a final version soon, I'm also on the tail end of finishing the stock 24v saloon. So if you've ever wanted to chuck a TD estate around the ring or storm a supercharged cossie around an oval at 165mph, now's your chance Happy new year. Regards, Bruce

Hi Bruce Yep we have it installed on every pc in the house My son Andrew is a regular forum member and downoaded you RS6 the day you posted it Very nice, keep up the good work.. P.s. just to make it more realistic can you make them cough splutter and die completely now and again?? or how about some damp fusebox special effects? your diesel had a 3.61 diff? stock ratio is 3.36 does that make a difference?

Hi guys, nice to be back on Jan 1st, 2008, 9:01pm, Highlander wrote:your diesel had a 3.61 diff? stock ratio is 3.36 does that make a difference? |
| I know, I couldn't remember for the life of me which it was, one reference on the site says 3.61 but the axle manual says 3.36. Yup it makes a difference, makes it a d**n sight quicker as you should know from cutting up all those 2 litres Some extra data would be really, really nice. Like toe/camber for the rear suspension (only front listed onsite), also some wheel and damper rates would be great. Oh, and if anyone has individual axle weights, so I can work out the weight distribution more accurately.. Also the guy who made me the sounds for the RS did a good job but I think he lost the reality of what a road car sounds like...even a tuned one. I tried to explain that an ally engine doesn't sound quite that throaty..but hell, they sound good So some sounds for a 24v would be very, very welcome All nerdy stuff to do with figures, I've just been told how to work out the spring and damper rates too Regards, Bruce

It's definitely realistic- the Scorpio TD broke down while going down the straight at Brands Hatch!

I set up a race with 5 other scorpios, and mine suddenly wouldn't do more than 45mph, then down the straight it slowed to nothing and stalled. Actually the exact same thing happened to me for real in my wife's nissan micra- that turned out to be the maf!

| Ahh yes, who could forget Postman Pat's van. Had a blast of a time chucking that thing around the Nurburgring, couldn't get it below 13 minutes though. The derv does a 11:30 if I don't crash This 'bug' where you can't overtake the computer controlled (ai) cars was in beta 7, I thought he'd corrected it in beta 8. It can be sorted though, you have to change something in the racer.ini if I remember rightly. You also need a config file to make the computer cars go faster than 30mph, if you press CTRL+F6 and drive a lap, then press CTRL+F7 to save it should do the trick Racer does have some bugs but even so, it's free and still a bloody lot of fun Also, does anyone know what rpm the injectors shut off on the stock 24v? I've got 6250rpm max rpm but surely it'd go higher before the ECU cut the fuel? I think it's somewhere like 6450rpm on the Zetec. Also, does anyone know what sort of 0-60 to expect from a stock 24v kitted with standard diff but an MT75 trans? At the mo it's on MT75 gear ratios, standard 3.64 diff, 1638kg kerbweight, 24v torque curve from the site with 286nm/207bhp and I'm getting 0-60 around 8 seconds, 1/4 mile in about 16. The site says 8.5 sec 0-60 for the auto, 16.8 quarter mile. Just seems a bit slow for a manual box, expected to gain at least a second over the auto Cheers guys
