Aye, it's in nice condition, I'll give you that. But still a lump of poo though, witness the complete rock bottom of the British car industry right before your eyes I mean 4 grand for that? Come on..

I had one of these for a very short while. A 1.7 in hearing aid beige. It was the worst handling most tail-happy hoot to drive. I got rid before before it killed me Geoff

Now now lads, spare a thought for the great products of the British motor industry!Could it be that the Ital and it's ilk assisted in the downfall of this once proud organisation,or could it be that those vehicles were the best that the union ridden firms were able to churn out amidst overwhelming industrial unrest? A rare find indeed and doubtless unique but NOTHING could persuade me to part with so much as 1p for it ! It's a cr*p car - end of story. I can think of a few more interesting things to spend 4 grand on - like a nice Porsche 944 or even a 928 or maybe a few Scorpios....

It's interesting that while the Morris Minor, Austin 1100 and the Mini are well loved icons of British Motoring the Marina, Allegro and Maxi are universally despised. Yet only a few years separated these models, same designers, same workforce, even the same components. I put it to you that they were all rubbish, draughty rustbuckets with feeble power units with scarce enough grunt to pull the skin off a banana.

different companies flop, by the time the all aggro etc were in production the company was BL. i think the minor, mini & austins were ok (some might've been quite good) for the uk motoring era they were designed in i.e. 50's 60's but they were never really developed over the years* and by the time the companies were amalgamated new designs had to be derived, but they also had to be in production quickly and cheaply, they also had to be desirable and affordable to the public, then throw in constant strikes and the recipe equals disaster. the first morris minor off the production line looked just the same as the last years later, compare to ford even, say the cortina, how many model changes over the years.....constant upgrading.....

It's a bit like the Trabant, the people of the ex-communist block have a love hate relationship with the Trabby.. LOL Geoff, hearing aid beige? Wasn't any relation to 'Cross channel sickness green' was it? I like that, might have the Capri resprayed a similar shade

I used to own a Wartburg for 13 years, same engine as a Trabby, it would leave all the roots cars standing, (in a cloud of sweet smelling blue smoke) 3 cylinder 2 stroke.... Pete
