old mobile phone kits.

Whilst faffing about in my car the other day I discovered a fully wired in, looking like it'll probably work, carphone kit.

It's probably been there since the mid to late 90s, but I don't have a clue what kind of phone fits it.

Anyone here good at spotting old mobile bits and bobs?

Pete, what car is that? The Rangey? Looks a nice bit of wood trim Smiley

I had one of these in the Jag, wired up with charger, mic and everything. The size of the phone must've been enormous, proper old house brick sized thing Grin

Yeah, it's in my 4.6 Rangie - not the turbo one.

I'm not worried about the size of the phone as it'll be getting a Genie sim card and calls diverted to it when I'm in the car. I won't be carrying the bloody thing around with me. It'd just be nice having a properly fitted h/f kit.

It is spectacularly woody, and the chunk missing that is visible on the photo seems to be the only damage I can find.

I don't know if the original owner ticked all the boxes for wood in it, but I've not seen another P38 with quite as much of an arboreal interior...

I suspect it was an option from the Autobiography packages.

I've been trying to do that, but Motorolas all seem to have the aerial on the wrong side. I think it'll be a trip to the local mobile phone bloke and see if he's got a clue.

Come to think of it,
The car kit I had had a black box that the cradle, external antenna and a mic plugged into.
You could try following the cables back and hopefully find the box, with a bit of look it will have the makers name on it.

Not yet, and I appear to have made a slight mess of one of the cupholders trying to get the cradle out to see if the makers name is on the back. b****r.
