Recommendations please for cleaning/treating  the dashboard and door cards.

I can't make my mind up as to what it is cover in. Is it vinyl? have we been treated to nappy leather? or is it....?

TIA

G'day Mike Wink

It's all vinyl on the dash and door cards mate, just like the 'walnut' finish is really plastic. Might be nice to have real materials but synthetics are more durable, how many Mercs, Beemers, Jags do you see that age with near mint wood finish like your Scorp still has?

AFAIK the leather seats though are full leatherHuh On most cars only the seating surfaces are leather and the rest vinyl.

Armor All or Autoglym trim spray on the dash, good ol' soapy water when I first bought it and it was full of grime Wink

Hope this helps.

Regards, Bruce.

Cheers Bruce, thought they were vinyl.  Wink

Wouldn't it have nice though at £30K in '98 if they had splashed out on something better than vinyl and plastic. Still 10 years down the line as you say we are reaping the rewards for their short comings.

As for the seats YES all leather is GOOOD but how I hate the constant creaking especially against the centre console. Soon I shall be ripping them out and greasing the mechanisms liberally.

Never heard of Armor All shall keep my eye out for that one.

Armor all does a good job at cleaning and leaving a shiney surface, Personaly i do not like the greasy residue it tends to leave behind Undecided
I tend to use soap and water to get any marks off and then try not to get any more marks on.
I regular use the hoover with a brush attachment to get normal dust etc off. Older blue dysons had a brush with them that had bristles over an inch long these were great at getting into nooks and crannies especialy the vents.

Armor All is an excellent cleaner, Mer interior trim cleaner is very good too though you have to mix that with water, Jofs vinyl shine is excellent stuff too as is their leather cream for the seats...........

Personally i prefer Auto glym interior cleaner, but the trick is to use it sparingly otherwise you will end up with a greasy but shiny dash  Shocked. It is best that you avoid the "pound shop" aerosols as they contain a huge amount of silicone.Great for giving you a durable shine but REALLY slippy & not good if you have kids (little fingers on the treated surface & then in the mouth = LOTS of vomit).  Shocked Shocked

I am a huge fan of Armor All, but I go for the matt finish one not the gloss finish coz the sun glares off it otherwise Wink
