Been thinking about a few of the Scorpios faults, what else can you come up with Smiley

Rear wheel bearings : You cant tell anythings wrong until the wheel falls off!

24v has a rubber water hose which passes THROUGH the cylinder head.

24v thermostat! enough said!

24v radiators!! see above!

2.3 inlet manifolds : made of....... PLASTIC!!!

a plastic battery cover designed to keep water out of the fuseboxes but designed with a HOLE in the top of it!

Estate rear shocks, a one off Ford only part that cost £300 each! how many estates have been cubed because of this?

Wiring looms as stated Smiley

The exhaust manifold on the 2000/2300 16V's - made of cast iron and then wrapped in reflective insulated plating to make the cat work  - they then wonder why they crack....  Roll Eyes

NOT releasing an EECV ecu for the 24V with a manual box Wink

Any my own personal niggle..... a bloody UK market fuel/trip computer that defaults to METRIC when the battery is disconnected  Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

I've just fixed that (one of the t's had cracked off).  Long nose pliers, double jointed (I wasn't before!) and immense amounts of patience won the day!

A few more.......  Wink

2.0 & 2.3 expansion tanks prone to splitting & leaking coolant.

Temperature sender sensors from Ford (only supplier).....on my third one in just under three years, but had no problem with previous '95 Scorp  Huh.....are new temp senders not manufactured to original Ford specs...i.e...made in Taiwan ?  Undecided

They rust prematurely on the rear wheel arches, sill to chassis & the chassis just behind the rear isolater bush  Roll Eyes

Auto dimming mirrors that fail & leak 'alien blood', seized sunroof motors, seized boot locks, blocked heater matrix's & fuel computer buttons that don't work when pressed.

7000 stereo that has a tendency to lose the LCD display for no reason...

...& the ultimate one, as Matt stated, the engine loom on the 2.0/2.3.........who would design a cylinder head with 4 spark plugs & 2 large ignition coils that are fed by skinny bits of wire running over a surface that can reach extremely high temperatures....& then cover it with a bakelite cover, so as it can get even hotter  Huh

though of another that effects every model . . . THE BLOODY CENTRAL LOCKING REMOTES!

then back to the wiring loom on the 24v, what genius decided it was a good idea to run the gear box loom as part of the engine loom, then clip the d**n thing to the top of the gear box making inspection of it near impossible without unbolting bits

This one can be altered by software as it is a default setting... Stewart, (highlander) would probably be able to do it on his super new bit of kit.... Wink Wink Roll Eyes

The remote  central locking  NOT  giving  an  indication,  either horn or  lights, of  a successful  lock/unlock. Angry

A breathtaking  oversight by the boffins  at  Ford  Europe  which  leads to Scorpio owners doing the  embarrassing   " press remote button - strain your ears to hear the mechanism - check handle - press bloody  remote button again   "  dance  routine.

Not  having an  in cabin  boot  release  is  a  minor  irritant .

I was surprised at the lack of a cabin boot release myself, I keep having to yank the keys out of the ignition when I drop someone off!

It might be worth mentioning the roof aerial base seal has failed and is letting in water, right onto my lap through the sun visor anchor nearest the rear view mirror.

I'm sure you can get the relay fitted that operates the indicators, but it wasn't fitted to UK spec as standard.
