lack of space to work on it any where else  Wink

with 2 scorps, 2 4x4's 2 superminis and a family car all in the way, space is at a premium

believe it or not its only arround 3 inches taller then a standard 2.9  Smiley

the lump should stand about 2 inches not 3, had a better measure up, should gain a bit of room cutting the bonnet carpet out, but yeah may need to have the bonet modded slightly

bit more work then just the chains, the 4 liter block has a lot of open oil ways in the top which need to be covered, some are easy, others not so

it's an ongoing project which i hope to finish before i go away this year (august time) so dont expect to see it finished any time soon lol

that block came from a lot of searching on ebay, ford forums, 4x4 forums etc
its a cracker though, brand new never been fitted to a car, came with loads of new bits and bobs to!

finally got round to doing some more work on the 4.0, this engine just keeps getting bigger lol, although its still sitting on the 4.0 sump. Here it is in its almost built up glory

by almost build up i mean all the standard 2.9 stuff on it, still sorting the actual running gizmo's

http://i40.tinypic.com/2wg6a2x.jpg

not sure if the air con pump will fit, stick out miles, but bolts to the 24v front panel so might just be an optical illusion. Ive got to make new engine mounts so make one if needs be.

intake wise its fairly easy, just need new (longer) rubber connector pipes, otherwise it drops straight on

fuel rail: no modification needed  Smiley

As you can see the front face no longer sits under the heads, so a spacer is being made at work when i can skive off.

most of the bolt holes line up of the bracket fort he ps pump and alternator, just that top on one the head wont fit any more

then there's a bit of reworking for the coolant hoses are fixings but nothing to hard  Smiley

By the looks of that picture, you might have a low compression problem - the heads are hovering 10mm above the block face  Grin LOL
