For Snoopy; Forum engine upgrade

Ain't it about time to upgrade the forum?
Currently forum runs engine ver is YaBB 1 Gold - SP 1.3.1
which is pretty slow and full of bugs which can be serious security hazard. And no one here would like all those helpful posts to disappear because of some wannabe hacker practicing on this ancient forum engine.

The most recent YaBB engine is YaBB 2.3.1 and the upgrade procedure is easy as hell.

here is the desc from the YaBB www;

Description of releases
"YaBB_XXX.zip":
This is a compressed folder of several files, which can be unzipped on a Windows machine. This contains the full YaBB package with the YaBB executables as a ".pl" Perl file. This can be used to upgrade ANY PREVIOUS version of YaBB as well. If your server only allows the ".cgi" extension, you can rename AdminIndex.pl to AdminIndex.cgi and YaBB.pl to YaBB.cgi.

http://www.yabbforum.com/downloads.php

I'm an experienced www administrator and I would strongly suggest this upgrade.
Mainly for security reasons but it will also improve the website speed.

AH!! ADZST24, sorry to contradict, but i think you are MAYBE getting confused, you are quite correct if you still have the MK !.    Later the problem was eliminated with the emergence of the duoble reflexed turbo MARK 21/2.

i sometimes get time-outs though...
but that's not the main problem, thing is that it's a matter of safety. It would be pretty sad if all the data got lost because of some bugs/holes, which might be easily used to hack the forum, in this out-dated script.
Administrators must remember that it's a free and open-source script which isn't any good nor safe if you don't keep it up to date.
When it comes to server speed, I might be interested in sponsoring a fast, safe and efficient hosting for the website... And if it was my website I'd refresh/redesign it a bit Wink but that's the least important thing.

Ha but have you considered this... The floppygobstopper wont mesh with the camtoggler if the pickitpull lever is operated to fast and in the wrong directionable counterfarce, which will limmit the clearance between the unkidoory and the thingemylingumy interfacial  quantumorium....

Hi Guys

Although the credits say that the Forum is still V1 it is in fact V2 - in the old days when V2 came out, I crafted it onto the V1 software with all of the modifications that I included - a simple updgrade using BoardMod would not work due to these mods and so it was all done manually.

It's a bit like the rear end of a MK1 Grandad seam welded to the front end of a Scorp Smiley

Hmmmmmmmmm

I've made a note of those members who clearly understand technical language - Dave44. adzst24 and peteHull  Grin as I have just signed up to BT Vision and they are sending me all the gubbins to self install  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I think that the nice BT lady - Sandra - thought I was joking when I asked if the instructions included how to open the box  Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

I may have to contact you chaps for advice - or should I go straight to jonnycab late one evening  ROFL ROFL ROFL
