hi there thought i'd better put up a photo of my replacement car. 2003 mondeo ghia x 2.0 16valve (145bhp, 190Nm) 54k miles with service history so far, so good! i've gave it a quick clean and MER polish and fitted the madflaps. that'll have to do for now. next 'mod' is a little lip spoiler for the rear hatch and Meta reversing sensors. cheers

Andrew !. Looks a nice car but can't understand your choice of reversing sensors . There are much better deals available on the net and they are 4 sensors as well. I understand on the Mondeo you can slip out the bumper trim and fit the sensors into that strip. Mike.

Nice looking car. As to reversing sensors there are BETTER and cheaper ones out there (IMHO) , and as Mike says they fit into the strip on the rear bumper. but its your choice and your car... Bet those wheels will be a bit of a " b****r " to clean though!

| They are - the wifes car is basically the same as Scorpio-mans (2001, Ghia X 2ltr, black leather, same 17" wheels). Had it over a year now but I'm always the one who has to wash it - if I'm driving it I can't stand to be in a dirty car! Must say though, it can't hold a candle to my Cossie Ultima Both Y reg's as well :-P

My 2.5tdi ultima estate Scorpio has also been replaced by a mondeo. Mine is a diesel mondeo st estate. I have to say I'm very impressed by the mondeo, ok so it's driven by the wrong wheels, but handles unbelievably well and is about 11/12mpg better per tank than the scorp (29mpg to 41mpg average). Both cars driven very spiritedly some town work, some high speed motorway work is the norm. So I now get more miles from a 55litre tank than from the 70litre scorp tank. Not quite the same level of toys, but close, only single zone climate, no dipping passenger mirror, seats only part electric (still heated), but it does have the heated front screen my diesel ultima didn't have. From this: To this: At least I still have the Falcon 4litre petrol driven by the proper wheels for playing on wet roundabouts! Good choice Andy, decent reliable cars. Paul

hi paul that's a lovely estate you have there. i thought about getting another estate, but i only used the estate part for my dog most of the time. shes getting a bit older now, so a bit hard getting in/out (i pick her up to get her in, but she can jump out, but it's a fair bit to jump). so i've got one of those hammock things that go between the headrests. she can't fall of the seats now!

hi there well, got the reversing sensors fitted today, along with a small lip spoiler. found another wee niggle. dodgy reversing switch. maybe works 1 in 4 times. £10 for a new one from ford and another £5 odds for a deep 22mm socket as my normal 22mm is too short by about 1mm! lip spoiler was £40 delivered from ebay. paint £12 from ford. i think it looks ok.

| hi there you wish!! not on the mondeo well, sort of. the kit has 2 sided sensors that must face downward. a number plate bracket a sounder and a control unit. on the scorpio estate, fitting would be a breeze. on the saloon, you'd just use the rubber grommet on the boot floor to feed in the wiring, so again very easy. don't get me wrong. it wasn't hard to do. just a pain (mainly in the hands with all the metal work on the tailgate)! the mondeo tailgate doesn't have any holes in it, so you need to drill a 10mm hole for the sensor wiring.

hi there on the estate, everything you need is on the tailgate. number plate and reversing lights for power. it would take 1 hour tops! they come in handy in car parks with small bollards. or good Scottish multi story car parks painted all in the same colour! that includes floor, walls and concrete pillars!
