While cleaning scorp for mot I found that the lip that the top door seal sits on was badly corroded. I have cleaned it up and painted it with galvafroid paint . Has anyone else found this.

| I presume you mean the lip beneath the exterior window scraper. I had this problem on my Granada with both front doors and ended up losing the inner reinforcements for the top of the door body on both. With this in mind this was one of the first things I attended to when I bought the Scorp by waxing them up, but now that you mention it I think it may now be time for a re-inspection and possible re-coat. No this is where the doors shut against the body. The seal goes from half way up the back doors, boot end, across the roof edge and half way down the front doors and ends a large rubber --- thing. Its hard to explain. Well it passed the mot.

Yep, i know exactly where you mean ( the area you bolt roof rails to). My old 2.0ltr was horendous in this area. Bit of a strange one TBH. I,ve seen some cars that have got it bad ( usually red ones ? ? ) & other cars that have no signs of rot at all. I did wonder if it has something to do with blocked sunroof drain channels

Thats the place. my 94 granada has rust there that why I looked at the scorp. I think if the drains were blocked it would come from inside out not outside in, if you follow.

I just put it down to another one of the Scorpios little "extras" . Thankfully mine is spotless in this area, but it,s suprising how many are quite rotten there ! Matt used to have a really nice facelift 2.3. From the outside it was practically a show stopper, but peel back those rubber seals & oh boy was it bad . I wonder how many others have this ...Answers on a postcard to...
