Scorpio or to be precise 2.9 12v Scorpio1 not one of the ones that we cover.

Always found that you need at least a couple in my case so I have one that starts. So I picked this up whilst my 12valve is having work done on the bottom end. Oil pump mains etc.,

I had a 2.0 mk3 Granada from 88 to 99 in which I covered 347k and was ever so reliable, then swapped for the 2.0 Ultima that I really enjoyed.

That stayed with me to March last year  Cry when with 240k on the clock it had major backend mods from an Arriva bus which chucked an Avensis at it.

I got my current 2.9 12valve Ultima in 2006 so for a period was running a couple until the 2.0 was totalled.

Looking forward to getting my other Ultima back on the road and perhaps picking up a nice diesel  Grin Stuart?

Incidentally not sure what the count is North of the Border but I think you must be pretty much close to cornering the market in Scotland and now branching out into SVO stuff..

JC your Mk1 looks like an absolute stunner

Matts got a cracking Fiat 500 and an interesting BEAST in development.

Baz has moved into Corsairs, but they are magic motors!

Gozz has one of the best collections of shiny black limos and hearses.

What are other people running?

If you want to why not stick up a piccy or piccies. (Following the house rules on size etc)

I guess it will need to be in the off topic section.

Well, I have stopped daring to mention things like "just bought a new trip computer switch because the old was a bit worn" etc. Otherwise it'll be "Is it broken AGAIN?", "you think about appearance on an old car like that"...

And the other one is a 2006 Skoda Octavia Combi automatic.

Having seen JCs Mk 1 Granada I am rather taken with the Coupe and I have just seen a Mk 2 2 Door Granada which looks amazing and with a bit of thought and some savings it may be possible to have one of each  Grin

The old cars escape committee thats us. Cool

Think how much more carbon neutral a car is once its done about 100K if its in good nick and emissions are OK. Scrappage scheme is a bit of a con anyway. Manufacturer pays half, government pays other, then picks up a nice guarnateed VAT and excise duty cheque from new vehicle sale, which will typically be more than the grand HMG puts in.

Trevor you are absolutely right it was a left-hand drive 2 door Mk2 absolute stunner though.

Matt my insurance company paid up in the end. Arriva were pretty decent about it and accepted blame in writing within 24 hours.   After that it was just a question of waiting and fending of the phone calls from people that wanted to "represent me".  I was off the road for over a month and on light duties for a bit, I have already said on another posting the offer for the car was laughable and because they classed it as a Cat A there was no chance to do anything with it, still quite bitter about that. But I am really happy with the two I now have.

Owning a classic car is a bit of a commitment. Even if you buy one in fab condition for top dollar, it'll still have rust somewhere & no doubt plenty of issues  Smiley

Be prepared to do some work, no matter what you pay.....after all, it's old & it's made of metal  Wink

Thanks JC

Yes I guess the point is you need to be committed to getting it right but also aware that there is a cost in time, money. Maybe I should get what I have sorted before I get too excited.

Still here..... 34 degrees today, bloody terrible but someone has to do it. At least the Merc got us here which is more than the Scorp did last time!!

Went via Geneva and through the Mont blanc tunnel. 13km underground.... good old trip back via Zebrugge next Saturday overnight ferry over to Hull on Sunday morning and then a nice hour and a half drive back instead of the nightmare 5 and 6 hour trek from Dover!!
