Was there ever a 2.9 - 12 valve manual ? or even a cossie manual, as I have never seen any advertised.

Used to have a 2.9 MK3 granada with a manual box ( 2wd ). Lovely car  Smiley Smiley. Matt has just finished converting his cossie to manual  Wink, so he,s probably the best to ask ( still fresh in his mind ). They are one hell of a beast with a waggly stick  Cool Cool Cool

Thee are a couple of threads detailing this Norman, try a search.

Basically i think it involves using the bellhousing from a V6 manual box (Sierra/Granada) mated to the rear of the Scorpio diesel MT75, using the manual propshaft, pedal box etc

Those are front wheel driven, and probably need major reworking to fit. I believe the cougar came with mondeo engines, e.g. 2.5 V6.

Stuart is correct

basic run down

v6 mt75 bell housing mated to a diesel mt75 rear end, diesel hydraulic clutch (requires bell housing mods)

diesel prop shaft, pedal box and brake master cylinder,( i used the cossie one but its not long enough as the brake pedal sits lower and doesn't turn the brake lights off Sad will be changing this for a manual master)

diesel brake/clutch fluid pot

escort cossie clutch kit (may be worth using a v6 friction plate as the escort one isnt dampened enough and you hear the springs rattling a bit at idle)

sierra 2.9 flywheel

wiring mods, and a fooling kit to bypass the auto's electrics

so theres a few bits i'll do different to how it is now once the other engine is ready to fit

parts were sourced all over the place, ebay, word of mouth, scrap yard trauls, ive prob clocked up nearly a 1000 miles getting bits / having them modded

Myself and others on Ford Power have proved that a properly built and modded Auto is faster than a Manual acceleration and gearshifting wise, and no clutch etc.

I know the waggly stick purists hate em, and will slate me for this, but I love 'em

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to convert to manual ? If it's better acceleration your after why not fit a diff from a 2.0ltr. On a 12v you should have around the same acceleration as a cossie.  Wink
