I remember the 'old-days' when all the youngsters used to laugh at Datsun and Toyota, me included!   The old Datsun cherry, and sunny,  ha ha.   I can't remember the old Toyota names.   That and Alfa Romeo, they were the worst for rust.

Aye Highlander good response!

Yep I remember the old celica and the corona, along with the then luxury Crown with it's 2.6 V6 engine.   The Publica was, and possibly still is a foreign car, I see them in Malta still, I'd forgotton the old Starlet, always reminded me of 'Harlot'.

I worked in an autowreckers yard for about a year, there was 3 nearly new Lancia Betas in a stack, never really sold much off them to start with but then all of a sudden there was quite a demand for bits so they started to get canibalised.... One day the boss said, No more parts are to be taken off the Beta's, notices were put on em and soon after they were taken away.  Seems they were the subject of claims from the manufacturesrs as there was more body rot on them then owt else.  It became a big thing after that....
