I make that £5,519

Ack-cherley, 25 mpg ain't that shabby TBH.

Considering in the days of yore my BMW 320 could only do that on a motorway cruising at 95, otherwise 17 mpg (less in Winter!)

I dont even want to think what mine costs to run. TBH it has needed very little aside from service items & a radiator. The amount of fuel i have used though has probably exceeded the cars value 10 fold !!! Wouldnt have it any other way though Smiley

One of the lousiest motivations for buying a new car over a 10 year old was "for the same money you spend monthly on maintenance of such a car, you could just as well pay the down payment on a new car and have no worries".

Don't you just love driving past the nearly new BMW's and Audis in your Scorpio just as they are being winched onto the recovery truck Grin

A mate of mine just leased a new Citroën C4 Picasso with a 110hp diesel and a semi-automatic transmission. List price here NOK 373,000 (close to £40,000 thanks to our "generous" tax system). Estimated value after 3 years: NOK 212,000. That's NOK 161,000 for the 3 years.

He is unlikely to need any repairs during that time since the car will be under warranty. Also, fuel consumption will be quite low, probably about 50 mpgUK. Ordinary maintenance, what with the long intervals on new cars, will run about half that of an older car.

Still, in his lease he will not only pay for depreciation, but also interests. So if you look at the overall cost, for a normal amount of 12,000 miles annually and even accounting for a substantial amount of repairs, running a Scorpio Cosworth would still be cheaper than the Picasso.

To top it off, it would be fun miles whereas the Picasso can only offer transportation.

It's a pretty clear cut case, I reckon Wink
