depends how fast you go Wink

i always reckoned they were the quickest off the mark of all the Scorpios because of the diff ratio I think.

I keep meaning to try one alongside a 24v to see just what the difference is.

Definitely not the peformance you would have seen in your 24v but they dont struggle either

I spent over 2 years of happy motoring in a 2.0 ltr ultima Smiley . Admitedly they arent the quickest car around, but once you have got them moving there really not that bad.

I agree, now mine is sorted properly still manages to take a few people by surprise. Baiting BMW owners is a good game Grin

Tip ~ turn overdrive off if you can't maintain at least 60 mph. (I'm talking auto of course)

Pretty sure it's got two power steps, one at 3,500 and 2nd at 4,000, @ >4,000 it can tramp on a bit! But given it's age I take that as a max.

I read somewhere it's descended from the RS2000 engine I think. Tiny bit of vibration around 3,000, even then only occasionally, otherwise dead smooth.

I agree with with the other comments. Not slow off the mark, smooth as hell, gets to speed and stays there. Your right Mike, it is an uprated RS2000 engine so preety good.

Rich, as Stuart says, certainly some differences between the two but the big thing between them is the economy. One will get you from A to B quicker than the other but will cost you more to do so!!

Rich. I've had my 2.0ltr 16valve manual estate for over ten years and it is a great car with comfort and space.  On a long run it will do over 30mpg and cruise all day at 70+.

Yep!

The auto is just about right at a shade and a bit somewhat over 3,000 which in O/D is 75 - 80 (on the clock anyway) and it will pull that all day

Provided fettled properly, not shabby at all. But like I say for mostly slow urban type running about best turn O/D off
