Happy New Year everyone
Has anyone had any experience with Halfords Trolley Jacks, they have one for 45 quid off at the moment.

Yes thats the one, just wondered if anyone on here had bought and tried it. I read the review that said it was heavy, but as it is something that would remain on the floor I dont really see a problem there.

The saddle on the end of the lifting arm looks really small but for the money looks OK.
I would have a look at what machine mart have to offer - probably get something a lot better for not much more £££'s.

My advice fwiw is buy the best you can raise the dosh for.
Some of the trolley jacks on MM are well over a hundred quid so your 35 quid Halfords spesh isn't going to be as good, is it. I have a two-ton jobbie that I went halves on with my Dad years ago and it is still a pleasure to use, if a bit of a leviathan.
On the other hand it is useful to have a small one for quick investigations or for simply lifting one wheel for example, esp if it has to be carried from the workshop.
Larger jacks usually have the release action integral with the handle, ie not requiring removal of handle from its socket which is a boon if you are doing a job where repeated up and down action is required. The type where the handle has to be removed and located onto a separate tap to let it down can be tedious. Much nicer if it is released by a simple gentle twist.
And a tip to keep the noise these things make when rolling around down - if you oil the wheel bearings and the pad socket, it ain't half quieter!
Just my preferences you understand - but it's one of the most important tools in your shop, so get the best you can. And don't jack your Scorp up on the bottom of the front wing like I did. It just folds up in front of your eyes.

i have that Halfords one Tony, had it a couple of years now, no problems and gets used a lot, it is quite a heavy beast if you're carrying it around but if its just for the garage then no probs.
