Driver, possibly Asian has no fuel for his black M

A few days ago I was on the A456, Hagley Hill when I passed a black Mercedes. A man, presumably the driver was waving a white card and flagged me down to stop.
I did stop about 40 yards past his car. He showed me his business card and in German asked if I spoke the language. His problem was that he had lost his wallet, his cash and credit cards etc. and desperately needed fuel and requested that I help him financially.
As security he offered me his very large gold signet ring. He said the ring was hall marked on the inside and indeed there were markings. The gentleman assured me that the ring was solid, not gold plated and proceeded to prove this by scratching it on the road. It was not plated.
The ring was not of a weight that indicated gold and I told him that I was not prepared to pay for fuel or accept his ring. He then produced a second similar but not identical gold ring.
I left him at the side of the road attempting to flag down further cars.

In retrospect I wish that I had retraced my journey and taken photographs of the driver, his car, and registration plate.,

In the title the letter 'M' should read as "Mercedes" - Sorry.

Had it happen to me a few years back, the chap had fill his tank and was trying the same scam on people stopping at the garage. The garage attendant had see his wallet stuffed with cash and was warning people not to take up his offer.

Had a similar thing happen to me last week.
A Beemer pulled up to me while I was waiting to cross the road, the smartly dressed guy (Italian accent) says 'way to M1 please' I points to the sign 100yds in front of him that says MI, he then said 'can you spare little bit money for fuel I leave wallet at hotel' I replied 'tough s**t mate I may look old but I ain't stupid, with that he drove off muttering something or the other.
I suppose I should have took his reg number and reported him, but never thought at the time.
