Mine was due at this time of year, about the middle of January and I used to put it in the 30 days before so I had plenty of time to fix anything, that's the secret, put it in the maximum amount of time before it's due and take the old ticket with you to get the new ticket for 13 months.   However, I changed mine this year and took it for it's MOT in August, it 'passed easily' were the words of the tester, and now I can enjoy working on it if needs be during better weather and during the summer weeks off (I'm a Lecturer, so get 7 weeks).   Mind you, the weather was so mild and dry up here the week before last, that I managed last weekend to spend Saturday and Sunday underneath the car wire-brushing the very slight surface rust off some bits, (like above the rear wishbone on the chassis leg) and using a nice thick black bitumen paint for the underside in all the usual areas.   The paint costs an arm and a leg but it remains fairly flexible and if you score through it, it re-creeps together, I've tested it!   I also greased-up all the brake and fuel lines, and when the car is on the ramp at the MOT station (the guy who owns the garage is an old-friend) he scrapes a bit of grease off a different part of the pipes each year!    (Of course he re-greases the area)   I'm quite proud of the condition of mine, in August this year, Neil (The garage owner/Tester) said, "Well Peter, I was hoping to fail it this year just to see the look on your face, but I just can't find anything wrong!"   Long may that last! Well, all the worrying and fretting for the last month amounted to nothing.

Gozz did offer me a cup of sweet tea (no mention of biscuits tho) to calm my MOT nerves when I was at his gaff last Saturday.

Unfortunately I had to decline as the wife's last words as I exited the front door were ......BLOODY CARS, DON'T BE LONG, I WANT TO GO HOME....
I felt like saying there's a bus to Leicester in 15 min's.   Grin
