It would be interesting to know how many on here have put in claims for PPI payments that were mis-sold to them by various banks etc & how long they have waited for the re-payments.

I currently have a claim with Lloyds/TSB, that is now close to the point of me going to the small claims court to recover it  Roll Eyes

I was sold PPI 10 years ago when I got a loan from them, although I was self employed, which meant I couldn't possibly have claimed under the policy.....therefore I am due the cash back, plus interest  Wink

Put in a claim in July 2011, that was rejected on the grounds that their records didn't go back that far  Roll Eyes

I wrote back to them with copies of the loan included (I keep all my self employed records) & they acknowledged that they did indeed owe me some money.

Had an offer letter from them on 2nd November 2011 promising the money they owed me (plus 10 years interest @ 8% per annum) would be paid direct into my account (I have a Lloyds/TSB account) within a fortnight.

That was 5 months ago & still I haven't received a single penny after countless phone calls to their absolutely hopeless helpline & sent letters (no replies) to their head office  Angry

Before considering a small claims court action against Lloyds/TSB (they've probably been issued with hundreds of CCJs anyway), I decided to write to my local MP a couple of weeks ago.

Low & behold, Today, I got a letter through the post, marked 'House Of Commons'. It was indeed a personal letter (hand signed) from my local MP regarding my grievance & that he had personally contacted, on my behalf, Antonio Horta-Osorio, the head Honcho of Lloyds/TSB.....& as soon as he receives a reply, he will forward a copy to me.......we shall see  Wink

No cash back as yet, but maybe this might get the ball rolling  Smiley

The most frustrating thing is that everytime I go into my authorised overdraft, I am charged a flat fee & interest.....even though they owe me more than I owe them  Angry

JC.
Regarding small claims court,I sued the Sun Alliance insurance outfit for trying to claim from me against a collision caused by their insured which caused heavy frontal damage to one of my funeral cars.I told them that as they had insured an inept and careless driver the cost was down to them. They telephoned me with a very high handed attitude saying "we have received a writ from you, that's not the way we do things, you can't sue us". I replied that I had done it and they were liable.
A few days before the coup de grace they paid up in full,no doubt to save embarrassment.
You could well find that the same action may work for you, seemingly it's not the money that's their first consideration but the possibility of losing more credibility than ever, and the risk that heads will roll if individuals are identified.
I trust you are hopping along OK,and will soon,if not already,be back in the saddle

Not hopping anymore Gozz, just limping alot & due to my Scorp being auto, it's meant I could return back to work last week  Cheesy

As for the small claims court, I understand (from reading various sites) that Lloyds/TSB have already been taken to the small claims court many times & been served with many CCJs by customers waiting long periods for repayments, so it obviously doesn't bother or affect Lloyds/TSB....they must think that they are immune to the justice system  Roll Eyes

I'll wait for a reply from my MP before doing anything  Wink

Received another letter from my local MP on Saturday 31st March, with an accompaning letter than he received from Lloyds/TSB. It wasn't from Mr Osorio himself, but from some head of 'Executive & Media complaints'.....wosat then ?  Huh

Anyway, it went on to say......'"a senior collegue will make enquiries into the issue that your constituent has raised & will do so as a matter of urgency".....Hmmm  Roll Eyes

Yesterday, I got paid all the money owed, plus interest for having to wait for so long  Cheesy

.....Friends in high places eh  Wink

Hi Jonnycab, i have had similar problems, and it has taken me since last year to even attempt to tackle it! i have just sent a claim against Cap One, this is the smallest amount of many! i have also been S/E for years, and had to take out loans for to survive and pay the tax man, What is typical with me anyway is i apply for a loan, they calculate wether i can make the repayments! but then they say because i'm S/E i have to have PPI, but they don't calculate wether i can pay this, but add it anyway, this leads to a shortfall, and results in me being charged over-limit payments, Late payment fees etc, so it is like a trap! However PPI should not have been applied to anyone who is S/E because they will not pay out to S/E! Anyway just to say i have had tremendous help from a dedicated furum, Whith huge support , The site is called CAG, Consumer Action Group! There are Pre written letter Templates and one to one help from very experienced people. If you need to you can log on for free and study the amount of wins' and progress of other people who have been there and done it, you can also read the best wat to suit you, if you need any help finding it let me know, it's been a life saver for me,! Cheers for the info Bob  Wink.....but I'm all sorted now thanks  Wink

I didn't want some hard line do-gooders or lawyers getting involved as they always want something in return & usually quite a bit. I'm strictly a DIY person  Wink
I also don't have the level of debt that you imply that you have, so waiting 5 months for a payment wasn't going to cause me any particular hardship.

To be honest, I didn't think to claim until after Lloyds/TSB lost their court case in May last year. The most frustrating & annoying thing about it is the fact that they send you a letter confirming you are owed 'X' amount & say in that letter that you will be paid ASAP, but this is total lies  Angry.....& one of the things I hate most in life is LIARS !!  Angry

Anyway, got my money back from Lloyds/TSB (plus interest) that they stole from me, so I'm happy  Smiley

Brilliant news Jonny, Well done, sounds as though the route you took got good results, quicker than many other ways described on the forum i mentioned! I also note you use the correct word 'stole' it seems some prefer to call it anything other than stolen money, but it was stolen! Fraudulently obtained, borrowed, the fact is money was slolen from many people by these once honourable institutions, but similar to being ripped off by a cowboy builder, being sold something you dont want or need! However i have noticed people are feeling less frightened, and more empowered by successes of others, and even threatening to send the bailiffe to the bank!  Thats the way to do it! all the best. Bob

WOW !!....after finally getting the payment that Lloyds/TSB owed me with all interest, guess what ?

I've just got in from work & checked my bank acount & they have (yesterday) transferred into my bank account another amount of exactly £200  Cheesy....which I can only assume (can't think of any other reason) is some kind of Lloyds/TSB compensation/good will payment for taking so long to pay up ?.....

Or is it that they are scared of my local MP (who incidently, is a former employee of Lloyds/TSB) exposing their shambolic payment & helpline system that is geared up to obviously pay out professional claim companies first, before considering individual claimants ?  Roll Eyes
