http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1998-R-FORD-SCORPIO-ULTIMA-2-3-16V-AUTO-RED-/2 81109071276?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item41736805ac

So if its still avalible when i get the cash, how much would you offer? I know it can be hard to tell without veiwing it but what do you think?

Mmm...looks nice, low miles but could do with a good clean - something you seem to enjoy from reading your other posts  Wink
Really all does come down to overall condition - if it is a good solid example with no nasty expensive faults then the asking price is probably not too far out...few left now...buy the best you can afford, check the obvious stuff like auto trans fluid colour, etc...
Better to pay £995 for a real good one than £500 for one needing a lot of work...that's just my opinion.

Sierra XR4i's are great...especially when fitted with 4WD Smiley

hi mate. Yeah i do love cleaning the cars, love doing the engines and this one filthy  Grin
I would be happy at 995 but id have a cheeky offer or two still  Wink. and your spot on about paying less for one that needs the work, sometimes its not worth it.

Dan.
That car was previously on ebay for £1200 odd,he says it belonged to Sir Terrence Beckett a notable Ford man who became MD of Ford UK in 1974,he was responsible for the great success of the Cortina.
On the 2nd of this month Sir Terrence died aged 89.
I can never comprehend why dealers don't put right 'in your face' blemishes like the scratched bumper,it costs so little and is far more likely to find a satisfied new owner.  Roll Eyes

Good luck with the job interview Dan. Hope you are successful.
Quite sure this was at a higher price previously. Maybe struggling to move it on. It looks from their feedback, selling cars is a sideline.
On the 2.3 check the inlet manifold isn't cracked behind thermostat housing.

I've just bought one for 800 quid, and although it has a higher mileage, it is in much cleaner condition.
The seats on this one look rather tired - mine still look like new in spite of the mileage.
Good colour, this pepper red. Stupid name, mind.
However, these things are getting rarer now, and you might not want to travel a long way to see one. I went to Guernsey once, to see a car, but that was a disaster as I hadn't read the advert carefully enough and it was not the spec I wanted.
Best of luck, anyway.

To be honest, I've got this car in my Ebay watch list (missing my old Scorp) & it's not too far from me.

If I had a normal job & just needed a car to get to work & back, & for normal everyday use, then I would probably buy it, as it looks good & has low mileage....& it's a nice colour.
It's bound to have some issues, as any car of this age will likely have, but I think the price would be negotiable & the buyer would most likely get alot of car for the money, as there is said to be a fully stamped service history right up to the present.

If the seller is honest, then they should let you have the last MOT certificate number (before you buy) so you can check it's MOT history for advisories & any gaps between MOTs.

If I were really in the market to buy another one, then this one would really have me tempted  Wink
