hi kenboy not too much use i know, but there is an electro-type switch in the rear that operates the bootlid i know this because when i had my boot replaced they had no end of trouble with it,all sorted now,but i would hazard a guess that is where the problem lies

Hi kenboy, you say the remote doesn’t open the boot, does the remote still unlock the doors? if so have you tried pushing the button on the boot lid while the car is unlocked? if the boot wont open either with the key fob or by pressing the button on the boot lid while the car is unlocked then its most likely the solenoid that is at fault. however, opening the boot with the key is a mechanical operation which requires no power from the solenoid at all. that’s why the boot can still be opened with the key even if the battery on the car is disconnected. The problem with the Scorpio is that most people tend to open the boot via the key fob meaning the key doesn’t get much use. we have two Scorpio saloons and neither could be opened with the key due to lack of use. some graphite and frequent use soon sorted them out. BTW, if it turns out to be the boot solenoid not functioning correctly, inspect the wiring on the boot hinges very carefully where they curve as they are known for splitting under the insulation. HTH Danny R
