Lack of engine braking

Hi Guys. Recently my 97 24V seems to have lost the braking effect from the engine at low speed. Travelling at 30-35mph foot off the gas on a level road and the car maintains its speed. Put it into neutral and the revs drop to about 700 rpm.
Any thoughts?

sounds to me like the brake bands need adjusting on the gearbox,quite easy if you have the "ford" tool,try your garage first though.......
