Hi All

Does amyone know if the global closing feature of the Scorpio's should work when using the remote as it does when locking with the key, have heard it mentioned on the mailing list that it should works with the remote but can't get it to work on mine which is a 97 P reg Ultima estate.

Yours hopefully,

Fitzy,
Yes this is correct. The Global Closing feature is only intended for use on the key, possibly for safety reasons because you're supposed to monitor the windows as they close to prevent people getting their bits trapped in them  Wink
Details of system mods are at http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/modindex.htm but I notice that Steve Collister's exceptional Global Closing mod isn't shown there. Don't know why. If you join the Confidential List you could ask him if he has one left - http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/mlist.htm

I have this excellent gadget on my car as well. Basically what it does is this:

1. Automatically locks the doors when the speed reaches about 10mph. (this is a safety function as fitted to the Mercs etc.)

2. Gives an audiable beep when the doors lock or unlock

3. flashes the indicators to indicate the doors have locked or unlocked

4. with a combination of remote button pushes opens all of the windows and sunroof and on deadlocking the doors using the remote (2 presses) it also closes the windows and roof as well

altogether a very useful mod which I fitted about a week after I got the car and can highly recommend

From Steve Collister as has been said earlier. If you join the mailing list or put out an APB for him on the boards, he will respond I'm sure. Just like Batman used to do when they shone that big torch at the clouds!!!

Craig,

fitting is a doddle. Steve supplies full instructions including photos and a video. There are about 10 wires in total and the majority connect down in the drivers footwell behind the panel where the cables come from the drivers door. there is a small double cable which runs into the engine bay for the sounder and the rest is done inside the car.

It cost about 60 quid if I remember and took about 2 hours to fit and test, but is a fantastic pose when you open all the windows remotely!!

If you want I can send you the instructions minus the photos (non-broadband area!!) it is about 41k (4.0 meg with the pics) drop me a mail on baz640@hotmail.com

Ok guys,
I got hold of Steve Collister to ask if he had any left, his reply was, and I quote:-

"I don't actually have any ready built as I only ever built them to order.
I am quite busy at the moment with work and diy stuff at home.
I might consider building some if there is a group buy as it does make it a lot easier to do a few together.
So if you can rally a few people to order at once say at least 4 or 5 then get back to me."

So, count me in...who's with me??

Did you say 'pose'? Where? Let me at it!
Actually this mod's been about for ages now, but I never bothered with it, but you know what... I kinda fancy it now. So I might go for it too. But I have a further question, and I don't want to sound picky, but what sort of tone does it do when locking etc? Wouldn't want one of those irritating little chirpy ones.
Maybe I should wait til the Derby meet to see it in the flesh. Maybe some uints could be for sale there?

Hi
hers another email I received from steve Collister, should answer any queries:-

Quote-

"Here is a draft email that has all details on it.

It is available ready built and tested for £55+ £5 P&P to uk. (Europe P&P + 3)
Postage is Special delivery (insured + next day) in UK.
Or for europe I use Airmail + International signed for service + Extra insurance to cover full price of unit.

It is quite easy to fit and will add the following features to your car.

1. Flash indicators on lock / unlock.
2. Sound a buzzer on lock / unlock.
3. Activate global closing when car is deadlocked - so you will never forget to close a window or sunroof.
4. Activate global opening if you unlock the car twice in 15 seconds. I.E. on a hot day unlock your car, lock then unlock again and all windows and sunroof will open.
5. Auto door locking feature - when you drive off after about 20 yards all your doors will lock - prevents getting carjacked or robbed at the  traffic lights.

Full easy to follow instructions are included and a test bulb and test procedure to follow to ensure you have connected all wiring correctly.
Also a video clip on cd to watch showing me doing an installation.

Also wiring connectors are included.

I am available to be contacted via telephone if you have any problems fitting the unit.

Cheers

Steve"

So all we need now is a few of us to get an order up
