Pulling the engine on a Cosworth

Any advise will be helpful. I am just about to start my summer project a rebuild of a 1995 M reg Scorpio Cosworth, basically the car is solid expect for the the bag of bolts in the engine. Has anyone out there pulled a cosworth engine out of the top rather than raising the the car out of the way like Ford do. If so did you bring it with the gearbox or leave it in place plus any problems that you may have. Any experiences would be helpful. Martin

You might want to contact 'Save The Night' (STN), on this one my friend. I have had numerous conversations regarding my own Cosworth motor with him and it seems as though he has many years experience pulling these motors.

Hi Martin Only ever took these out from underneath, I have removed engines from Granada shape upwards, there is more room in them though, at the worst you could drop the front frame to get it out upwards, you would need room to drop the rear of the gearbox down though. Hope thats some help Martin

Thanks for the advise so far, from some of the advise i have received the main problem is the clearance for getting the gearbox out, so to get around this i not going to mess around the top crossmember is only held on by a few spot welds so im going to remove it that should give me the clearance i need and its easily replaced.
