continuos beep

when opening the drivers door there was a continuous beep while the door was open.when the door is closed it stops.while changing the battery i noticed the wire was not on the horn so i fitted it and when opening the drivers door the beep had gone but as soon as i put the key in the ignition the horn started continually beeping(the alarm i suppose). anyone help me?

You dont mean the continuous beep from inside the car do you? It will do that if you open the door and the car isnt in 'park' to remind you. try putting the car in any gear (except park) and opening the door, you should get the beep. As for the alarm is it still doing it? might just have reset itself when you changed the battery.

Is it a 12v or 24v,if the 12v there is a pin about 4mm dia x 35 mmlong that is located on the gear selector stick. It may have come out,to locate this remove the wood trim and gear selection trim have a look round and you might find this pin. The pin activates a micro-switch when the car is put into park it also locates positively the gear selector stick. The noise is the warning that you have not left the car in park,if the pins out it will sound whenever you open the door. Joe

ive sorted the continuous beep thanks lads .i cant solve the alarm problem though so any more help please.
