Door mirror falling off

This is probably a stupid question and completely obvious to everyone except me but... My Scorpio ultima passenger side door mirror has started to come away from its backing plate. Does anyone know if it is easily removable/replaceable like a Cavalier or if it is a more complex fit. A bit of advice would be greatfully received. I don't want to risk removing it without knowing a bit about how it fixes back on in case I do more damage to it. It has stayed on so far but I can't risk going through a car wash in case it falls off. Thanks DaveC

Hi I assume it is the whole assembly that has come adrift from the mounting bracket if this is the case it has done what it is supposed to do when it has been knocked, saves damage to the unit if you look you will see a couple of ball and socket joints and its these that have come adrift and it is quite a simple operation to reconnect just have a good look and with gentle force locate back into position, good luck and let us know how you get on. Regards Kenboy

Hi. Yes, the whole assembly is loose. I will investigate further after the Easter Hols as I am working solid for the next few days. At least you have set my mind at rest that I can safely remove it and examine it without destroying it (I hope!) Thanks for the info DaveC
