I think there is one out there but it will only give you 10bhp  Undecided at most......I think there was talk about it a while ago and to get more you have to increase induction and exaust. thats is getting rid of the cat and getting some sort of cone filter to get loads of air in and out then get you chip and see what happens... Hi, SveiBraa...

I`m from Norway to, been looking for an Chip to, but it seems like changing exaust is just as efficiant...

Supersprint exaust, and a good chip can give about 30-50bhp...
How mutsh did you pay for an -98 estate 2,3 aut..?

In Norwegian...

Hei, tore heter jeg..

Har tittet litt etter chip og eksos, men finner ut at det er en stor kostnad i forhold til effekten man får...

Kansje 5000kr for 40hk...

Betalte 105.000kr for min -95 2.0 man.. (inkl. omreg. og rep.) Si 93.000 etter omreg.&rep..

Håper å høre fra deg.

Hi Scorpioen84

I've been told that a chip can give me about 10 hp, that isn't much but every little increase is welcome. And with a good chip I also hope that it would use a little bit less with gas.
Somebody also said that  Autronic engine steering is much better than any other chip. Unichip is also an solution.
Can Supersprint deliver exhaust to Scorpio 95-98 ??

Svein

Hei Scorpioen84

130.000 høres fornuftig ut for -98 2.3 stv....
105.000 på foretning for 2.0 -95 var litt stift...

6.500 for montert chip.?

I've superchipped my XR2i, along with the usual mods of cam, powervalve and exhaust....Superchip reckon on 10hp more but.....it's the whole power curve that is increased. The whole rev range is smoother, more torque and the economy has increased if you don't boot it all the time.

In all, the superchip has increased the smooth power delivery and remapped the ECU.......highly recommended.

It's a little pocket rocket now!

A month ago I fitted K&N replacement filter and I'm surprised, because with that filter my fuelconsumption has decreased with about 8%. My idea is that with my filter and a good chip, and maybe an exhaust I could get about 160 hp (originaly 147), better trottle response and even a little better fueleconomy.

SuperChips own "improvment-list"..
( www.superchip.com ) ( www.supersprint.com )

• Gain up to 10% more horsepower and 13% more torque on Gas vehicles.

• Results vary by vehicle - your results could be better.

• Raise or eliminate top speed limiter* .

• Increase rev limiter* .

• Adjust automatic transmission shift points and shift firmness* .

• Calibrate for changes of rear gear ratio* .

• More towing power and quicker acceleration .

• No tools necessary for installation .

It is a bit steep isn't it.   Mind you, an extra 20bhp - hmm Grin
And it reads DTCs too. Maybe not as comprehensive as the OBD but could be worth a look one day.
Didn't see the Scorpio listed, though I guess it must be possible.

The only thing I have ever 'chipped' was my Chevy Suburban when I lived in the USA, but to be honest, the plan to chip the vehicle was part of a wider project and included other upgrades.  In my experience, and those of other guys that have years of experience hot-rodding V8's, using a chip alone is a total waste of money.
If you think about it logically, if you change the programming of the car by puting a different chip in, it will surely have a knock-on effect through-out the combustion process,...what I mean is, you upgrade one component which will only lead you to having to upgrade another (so on and so on)!
Very often, when we ran our Trans-AM's, Camaro's and other performance cars, there were always problems with owners car's who though they could just bolt-on a chip and get instant improvement.  My old Technician in the USA once said to me, "there is no such thing as a bolt-on performance enhancer".
If I retract a little, when I changed my chip (this was on the standard Chevy 5.7 V8 ), we also did the following:
  • Cold-air induction kit with K&N open filter

  • Blue-printed and over-bored throttle-body

  • Blue-printed, balanced and high-volume injectors

  • MSD Ignition system

  • MSD ignition leads

  • Adjustable fuel-pressure regulator

  • Performance power chip

  • Performance exhaust manifolds, CAT and exhaust system

All these components were listed by the manufacturer as 'bolt-on', and when we did the vehicle ran like a dog.  We had to creep over to the Technician's workshop one day and have the Technician call each manufacturer to get the exact performance characteristics of each product so the Technician could get them all to work with one another properly.

Eventually it was all set-up and the vehicle ran superb (we lived at a high-altitude with very dry desert climate and often had to run over the Sierra-Nevada mountains, so getting the vehicle to breathe properly was always a challenge).

In short, I am not attempting to slag off any chips or people who want to install them, but my advice is not to purely look at just a chip to give you value for money performance improvements.  You would be better off saving more of your pennies and targetting other aspects of the engine that may need addressing.

I totally agree with DJ - there is only one bolt-on performance part and that's a supercharger and I can't imagine anyone fitting one of those to their Scorpio.

The best way of improving performance for least cost is to reduce weight - lose the spare wheel and replace with a runflat can - empty the boot of tools etc - run the fuel tank half full etc etc. And then the only difference will be against a stopwatch or when racing another vehicle.
